According to the New York Daily News, 50 Cent is accusing Kanye West of cheating to win their SoundScan battle last week when both artists released their new albums on the same date. In an interview with UK music magazine Uncut, Fif said, “He’s never had a fraction of the sales 50 Cent has. They could have only one scan and have it count four times. West’s entire career hasn’t sold half what I sold on my first album.” While the SoundScan figures for ‘Ye’s Graduation and 50’s Curtis will not be announced in the U.S. until tomorrow morning (September 19), Kanye has already beaten 50 in the UK and the same results are expected in the U.S. According to several music industry trade publications, Graduation is expected to sell over 800,000 copies, while Fif will enter at No. 2 with over 600,000 units. While 50 says Def Jam has rigged the sales, according to Billboard’s Geoff Mayfield, that claim is highly unlikely. “The people who built SoundScan,” he says. “Put safeguards in place to track sales that don’t look kosher.”

Seriously, I used to be an idiot, being 50's advocate - many people here know this. But it's important to change, so let me say this - beefs in Hip Hop are sometimes entertaining, because there are songs that go along with it - but this isn't that. If this is even considered beef, it's not over the music - it's about money and many people are getting wrapped up into it. I personally know 2 people that bought 2/3 copies of Graduation because they hate 50 Cent. And they wonder why Hip Hop sucks so much.

Pathetic.

According to Sohh, Ye has nearly a million in 1st week, 50, just under 700k.

Also, I doubt 50 will retire, I still want to hear Before I Self Destruct.

My opinion is simply that without 50, Ye wouldn't get as many as he did for album sales. Fif is a marketting machine, hate him or love him, he gets people's attention. While he did lose, he elevated sales for both rappers quite a bit compared to if both of them released their album seperately in say a few weeks of each other(as was originally planned). I'd bet if Curtis was released a few weeks ago, he'd be around 400-500k or less in 1st week. And Ye would be around the same number in the same regard being released as of last week. Somehow, even though it's soundscan, I do bet there's a decent amount of albums bought from Def Jam.

Ye did almost plat in one week? Fuck that is a little hard to believe.

And SoundScan is easy to rig. Major labels do it all the time, they just sink a couple hundred thousand into buying the CDs up themselves.

How is it hard to believe Kanye almost did a mil?

This day has been talked about for the past month. This was the best marketing we have seen as far as rap goes, hands down. 1.5 in the U.S between the two of em in a week, applause. Unfortunately, this WAS bigger then people actually remembering what happened 6 years ago. I expect their numbers to drop off a lot, not cus labels buy albums but because with this situation it wasn't a 5k it was the 40 yard dash. Not just hard core fans but any fan was gonna go buy whatever album this week cus of the hype. This was a pretty big thing for rap music as far as the business is concerned, I just hope people don't try to follow suit and copycat what these two did. Also, 50 sayin he would retire if Kanye outsold him was a bad move, not cus he has to keep his word or whatever, just seems like there are more people who dislike him from Kanye's fanbase so they will run out and buy Ye's when normally they wouldn't.

50's always running his mouth though, wasn't it like last year or something when he said Kanye's success was because of him.

I can't recall the exact quote but the subtext of the quote was that people were tired of 50 so they got into West's stuff.

Besides wannabe thug rappers in the vain of Pac always have a short shelf life go ask Ja Rule and The Game.

I actually bought Kanye's album because of the hype. I personally think it's a tight album so I don't care what all the fan-boys and haters say.

This could actually be the start of the end of 50's kingdom. He's already showing he's weak for not backing up his words (he's going to match every def jam release with another whack g-unit album that sounds like it's a rushed mixtape; he's talking shit about how he made Kanye succesful (wtf???)).

Most ridiculous statement by 50: after all those years he still doesn't know who Kanye is as a person, because his rhymes don't reveal Kanye's personality. WUT? I mean, if there's anyone who has had nothing interesting to tell it's 50 himself. I mean, his album got a few good beats, but the 1st track already talks about him and his GUN? Come on! If I look back at what 50 made, there's only 2-3 songs that have any longevity (Many Men, and that other track from GRODT).

Hate him or love him, but Kanye's put himself on the history books by cheer talent and uniqueness. 50 is just the first one with a mouth bigger than 2pac and that's what made him succesful. What does he have to show for, Candy Shop, Magic Stick?

I bet you 50 lover's be up in your room looking in the mirror and saying "what up gangsta!" lol.

I just think it's a shame that the "King" of hip-hop only drops boring tracks when he has the hottest beat selection.

Peace! Buy Chamillionaire, shit is tight! Ras Kass - Chinese Graffiti-best lyricist in the game.
