Militant was up for one in another thread. Anyone else is free to accept though. Right now my computer is down and it's probably gonna take me a good month before I can get a new one, but the way things are with these battles, I'm just being a bit early Worst case scenario I might just download the shit I need to this laptop and install it on here.

lol it's so funny cause whenever there's a battle it's always like, "okay, so how do we do this?"

i don't know either lol. i'm up for your idea. let someone choose a song and then we sample that song. should it be choppy choppy or free hands to do whatever (replay, use portions of the sample like just the bassline, etc.)?

Another idea, if you like it better, is that we, instead of choosing a song to sample, just decide on a specific mood or sound for the beat to have. Let's say "happy", "gangsta", "gritty", "futuristic", whatever really.

I have never done a battle in any other way than having a sample picked, so doing it another way could be sort of interesting too.

But I don't really have preference, at all.

i have no pref either. if sampled whe should just do whatever feels natural to us with that sample

i'm for the original beat too, we could even throw samples in that too if one should feel the need

we need a third party to make some judgements

Well the thing with choosing a sample means your creativity is confined. I've always done that but that's why I sort of wanted to have a more free contest for once. If someone posts a ugly ass sample I may be able to flip it and make something nice taking into account what sample i'm using, but often i won't like what i'm hearing. i remember the one i had with milos. basically he kicked my ass but i hated that sample. the whole thing sounded ugly and the mixdown was so horrible that the whole thing sucked to use. i know a typical response to what i'm saying right now is "well that's sort of the trick, to take something and flip into something dope" but god damnit.

So fuck a preference, I was being humble If you're okay with a set of rules that give some freedom while still having some confinements, Scruffy, that'd be cool. On the contrary I just told you how to break me lol

Yeah we'll decide on the rules and then when we are both done we post everything up in a poll and let people vote.

Right now i'm trying to find a friend who can download reason for me and burn it cause my net is so fucking unstable right now. i won't have any refills either, they are on my scsi drive. i at least have my drum samples on a usb drive. I am on an old laptop as well cause of my pc being dead. hmm, let's see, what else can i put in here to prevent losing face if i lose.

yeah. if i'm not mistaken scruffy is in the process of, or has been in the process of moving recently. i have just quit weed and started doing more "normal" stuff so we both have less time to sit around the computer, so because of that we chose to just make this a more open thing. it's not like it's for gain or even reputation so we're breezy about it.
