Since the beginning of 2006, there is only one single member who stayed really active until today...its Tha_Wood.

Why is he the only one?

I think this board has become too much of an in crowd with too many in jokes and issues and foreigners feel left out and are scared to post.

Maybe we need to offer a different type of service to these people for them to appreciate StreetHop.com even more then they already do. Porn is the answer.

Someone set it up. We can name the sub-forum after a 2Pac song. We can call it "Tongue Kissin". This will be the best damn porn/hip-hop site on the net. You can read hip-hop news while wanking it at the same time, on the same server, with all your streethop buddies. Who else brings it to you like we do? www.vivid.com (maybe).

Shut up, Rahim. Porn is not the answer.

I agree Rukas, but I also think that's what makes this board a unique place. That's why so many members have stayed loyal over the years.

i think we're doing better newbie wise.

We have Woody and Stred and T-Dub lol. Sure they might all live within 20 miles of each other......so? :D

I think we need a focus here. The focus ain't been 'Pac although the forum splitter and the focus on it being 2PacBoard.com I think is bringing more attention to that section than it has done in a while.

What are we pushing? People used to come to HitEmUp for 'Pac. We're not just a 'Pac site anymore though, so what's our focus and what's the reason to come here?

I don't think we get enough StreetHop (the section) activity to make anyone come here solely for hip-hop discussion when they could be going to AllHipHop or any of those other sites.

We are trying to be a jack of all trades here but really for pretty much every section we have, if that's your main interest then there's somewhere else you could go. Yeah we have a great community with interaction and places to discuss all kinds of things..... but that doesn't bring in new members.

If the focus is gonna be on hip-hop (which seems the most plausible option given the name of the site) - then we need to go all out with it. There should be a news update every day. A featured article section on the front page, where everyone is encouraged to write articles and every week or so the best recent one goes on the front. Featured artist section? (You'd have to be ruthless with it like The Source was back in the day with Unsigned Hype). Competitions? Front page polls?

^^^Your suggestions were not in place before when the forum was very active, so that can't be a cause as it worked fine before without it. Though these suggestions would be a bonus, they're not the grail as demonstrated in previous years when things moved fine without the,

The problem that most 'ogs' had with this forum during the 'great fire' of early 06 was the strictness of the mods and admin.
Everything was supressed to the point this forum was as about interesting as watching grass grow. Noobs coming in found it boring as the members who had interesting personalities were simply not around to deepen the interest of a floating noob.

lets unbann every single member and bring them back. 2007 is a new year. lets start fresh..in august.

ken i wasn't saying that these were things that worked before. but we need a boost right now and i figured those things might helo.

rahim - that is just dumb. sorry. there's been some serious serious serious morons here over the years.

i do think we should find out where "chinese 2pac" is at, though. That guy was funny.

the same morons that were keeping the forum active..even if they did cause problems..kamikazi and diaz...that was a big era for streethop

We often heared someone mentioning this reason. But somehow, i cant buy into it.

When i registered way back in 03, there were in jokes and all of that too, no? Wathcing back, i cant recognize a difference.

I dont know a better reason, though.

i love reading my name in a topic, makes me feel special :)

i have no idea why i stuck around to be honest, i just liked reading what you guys said because i thought you guys were funny.

what mili said is good. theres too many hip hop sites. we gotta be a better source than them to have more members. we gotta be able to compete with all hiphop and the other rap sites.

no it wasn't. that era paled, and i mean seriously paled, in comparison to the vibe and activity here from 2001-2003.

i think you are wrong. i think militant's idea is GREAT. he is right on the money about the forum. i often think that i wanna make threads here. i remember i made a thread about a smartphone device i wanted to buy. i thought about making another thread last week asking for windows mobile tips & tricks, but basically, the problem militant described is very much real. i CAN post it in the tech section and MAYBE have a semi-good response within a few weeks... or i could go to one of the biggest windows mobile forums and have ten detailed responses within ten minutes. i'm not expecting that from this place, and i can't remember any more specific examples off top, but there is so much shit i could have made threads about that i simply don't because there's no point.

now you're smart ken. you made the dithering idiots thread. here's a very basic concept that i'm sure you grasp when you think about it: hitemup.com was a pioneer. while streethop may be one in a million, jon sure wasn't so when he started. meaning it was easier for him to attract a crowd. simple probability math lol. then as time went by, since the site was already an established tupac site, it continued to grow. everything is really a bunch of mere lucky chances if you think about it. the start of the site was major in the pac website history context, and for the following years the website's popularity rode on that. then there were a couple of down periods where the bandwidth was exceeded, there was a period of several months where the site was gone. there's been several revamps, fix-ups, reforms, whatever, and it seems every time we try to reach out further we lose members. after each little 1-2-month period of slow loading times or down time, at least a couple of regulars have disappeared.

there were staff members who were devoted to the site back in the day too. now we have two new news posts every third day lol. i know i'm exaggerating and i'm not really trying to point fingers at either Rukas or Caesar, but there has to be someone who is willing to post some news lol. i'm not the guy so like i said i'm not pointing fingers, i base my assumption on the fact that there have been in the past. see, making a claim as a hiphop site online might be difficult as we're one in a million, but the fact that it's not really updated that often at all doesn't exactly help.

and i also agree that if we wanna go with the hiphop thing, we need to do that and do it the right way.

And as I stated in the Feedback secion, a CD review section for all the new releases.

Sometimes i think you cant have both. Either a growing community or a smaller community with great characters. And thats what the place is right now. Like youve said.

i know i'm exaggerating and i'm not really trying to point fingers at either Rukas or Caesar, but there has to be someone who is willing to post some news lol.

Roaches should "play a bigger part", concerning hiphop related stuff on this site. Dont know what happened to this intention.

That aint gonna happen. They have a shitload of members. This sites hip hop section isn't interesting enough to keep people around. Neither is this section most of the time.
