Pimp C disses Atlanta and then appologizes

In the August issue of Ozone Magazine Pimp C is interviewed and takes shots at various people including music mogul Russell Simmons and Ne-Yo. But the statement that has many in an uproar included Pimp claiming that Atlanta is not really part of the South.

"Atlanta is not the South," he said. "Atlanta is not the South, gotdamn it, when you go to Atlanta what does your clock say? When you get off the plane from Los Angeles or Texas, what time do it be over there? Atlanta is East Coast time. You niggas ain't in the South."

Now the Texas based rapper, who lived in Atlanta for over 5 years, is publicly apologizing to fans in Atlanta for those sentiments, but says that he stands by his other remarks in the interview.

"TO ALL MY ATLANTA FANS & FRIENDS, I WANT TO SAY I APOLOGIZE FOR MY STATEMENT IN OZONE MAGAZINE ABOUT ATLANTA NOT BEING THE SOUTH!! THAT WAS A BULLSHIT STATEMENT!! ATLANTA IS AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE DIRTY MOTHERFUCKIN SOUTH!!!!! CHUUCH!! BUT THE REST OF WHAT I SAID, BOUT THEM PUSSYY ASS NIGGAZ IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE TRUTH!!! I can actually see his point in a way. Culture wise it's definately the south, but as he says, it's on East Coast time, and it borders the East Coast, not the South Coast.

Atlanta is a good 4-5 hours f/any coast, and it's in Eastern time (there is no such thing as "East Coast" time). There is also no such thing as "South Coast" time. It's Central time. I think this guy "Pimp C" is totally confused/misinformed/had no idea what he was talking about.

i only heard the "clarify" interview he did for the Ozone statements and then the apology one. so i'm not sure what was said in Ozone exactly.

but the two interviews i did hear, the man was speaking some real shit about hip hop and Russel Simmons.


as far as atlanta goes i kinda agree with him. but i think that's more outta my pride for my state. to me the real south is right here in louisiana. the bottom of the boot. it don't get no dirtier than this.

though i don't think he was saying ATL wasn't the south as in, "it doesn't represent southern music". but he said in wasn't south as in... well, the time zone. to be honest i don't understand how the fuck everything east of the mississippi is considered the Midwest. i always though Dakota and those states around it were the midwest area.
