White Fans > Black Fans

#23
Its true. Now by no means am I saying that that makes one race better then the other in terms of fans, but even Mos Def, Pac and Nas know without white fans and there money, hiphop wouldnt be big. Just go 2 hood alone and you see Black folk burning, yes BURING, CDs right on tha spot next 2 a gas station; thus, taking away from the sales. Now this could be cuz of stealing or bein broke and needing 2 hustle, either way, shit aint like that in outside the hood.

kinda funny article....

but.. i dont think racial differences exist or should exist in hiphop... thats whats so beatiful about it... hiphop is everyone... especially when your talking about fans of hiphop music... white, black, asian.. whatever... its unification.
It is, its more economic and cultural reasons;thus, I disagree with the article. My ticket is 9Obucks,now thats not THAT much, but all the other things (parking, conflicts, etc.) can steer Blacks away.

Yea, neither are all whites havhn money, but there is a greater ratio of poor Blacks then Whites (stats wise). And thats hip hop, least the current view of hiphop style in the mainstream.

Also maybe the brothas got side hustles aka quik cash. Im just tryin give an obvious reason why dude saw more whites at the show then blacks.

Eh, this turned into something stupid though. I'm not gonna sit here and buy that whole "white people have more money than black people" shit. I don't know why there's more white people there. I don't think it has to do with money. Mabye them certain people just pay attention (or care) more? Who knows. Shit though, I work for my money.

The bottom line is that most black youths these days have no appreciation for hip-hop culture. It's a fact. Period. I don't know why, I don't know how. I suspect it has to do with the appeal of the "gangsta" lifestyle and the propaganda of the industry, pushing it as though it were desirable. I mean, BET won't play Little Brother or Black Star because it's "too intelligent" for their target audience. I don't see why they wouldn't do that either. It's like the NBA. A team game may be a better product and in the long run be better for the association, but stars put the people in the seats. Flash and flare is what it's all about. The industry mesmerizes people, particularly blacks, with jewelry, cuss words, chauvanism, and catchy beats.

With that being said, I don't know why white fans weren't affected to the same degree. I don't. Maybe it's from the influences from the circumstances of the general populations--habitat, socioeconomic standing, education levels. I don't know. Obviously some have fallen for the bastardized product that was once recognized as "hip-hop," but not nearly as many (at least in relative terms).

"One chick told me all she listened to was beats, thank God for 9th" - Phonte of Little Brother

There's a lot of truth to that.

I'm sure the white dudes at the show weren't a bunch of rich people who could buy tickets without thinking twice. If you wanna go that bad, get a job and make the money to get a ticket. I'm not buying that whole thing you're saying. It's ridiculously stupid.

Not really. Its a known fact that majority of people who buy CDs, let alone tickets are white fans who have the means to get that money. They're essays on it homie. Its stupid for U to flat out deny its possiblity. You making it into a "spoiled rich kid" angle when I am not. There are more opportunities to make money or have money 4 a suburban fan of any race then hood fan. Im not buying the whole segrating of rap cuz of one race is more loyal, especilly the race who didnt create rap, at least orginailly

At the end of the day I believe its something more then just race. Economics is just one of many possiblities (conditioning, not the artist blacks wanna see in that area). I dont believe its because Blacks dont support a relative term such as "real" hiphop. And thats my word on that as a black dude, workin 2jobs and paying 4 his own ticket and trip finances.

Exactly, it is more than race. There are white people out there who can't afford to buy a ticket to a Hip Hop show as well. I've been there before myself. I just found this post you made to be stupid as hell..

A good portion of white folk got money, whats new?
I read that and was like what the fuck? I know you weren't trying to start any bullshit on purpose or anything. You're a cool dude in my eyes. It's just a poor excuse imo.
