Just bought a bottle for my homie for his 21st. My question is, what will go best with it... Coke? Something that would go great with it ..but simple. Cause there is no Alize and shit here in South Africa.

Exactly. Cognac is not for mixing. Drink it straight. If anything, you could use coke as it would be similar to rum and coke, but rum and cognac is two different things. Cognac has a way more burnt taste imo, which will bleed through the sweetness of the coke and make the whole thing undrinkable altogether. If you have to, keep a beer on the side to flush down every once in a while.

Cognac is not for mixing.

You are not supposed to mix it. You are drinking it wrong when you mix it. If you want to mix, don't buy Hennessey. If you want to buy Hennessey, don't mix it. It's like buying the pizza with the most shit on it just to pick all of it off. Why not just buy a simpler pizza.

There are different types of Hennessey too. Cognac is labeled O.P., V.S.O.P. and X.O., depending on how long it's been stored. Hennessey use their own labels. I don't remember them, but the X.O. version of Hennessey which I think is a $100 bottle or so, is called something like "Special" or "Extra Special" or "Extraordinary" or something. I don't quite remember, I never had anything but the cheapest Hennessey. And that's no better or worse than any other type of Cognac really.

i dont mind drinking it straight, but its not for me. The mate im giving it to is a drinker, but not one to drink shit neat...lol, im thinking i wasted a bit of money, but we will see. Sorry to be a bit naive, but whats it taste like straight?

You're good. Basically Hennessey is still an exclusive Cognac so when I said it's like drinking any other Cognac I wasn't really being accurate. How much did you have to pay for that one? $40-50-ish US?

Yeah, if you can get ahold of hypnotiq, it's what you pretty much HAVE to mix it with. "Incredible Hulk"

Or you can go with Crunk Juice (with red bull preferably) but you'd have to have the expensive henny, not the $40 one to achieve max results.

maybe a week ago I with my friend bought a vsop hennesy for the first time. what can I say... not liked it much, but maybe because I ain't used to that congnac,whiskey stuff... as usuaaly drink str8 vodka, or cocktails made from vodka.
but back to the topic, I liked mixing hennessy with champagne 1/1 with a splash of lime juice. hennessy with sprite worked well too
