^Oh, so I shouldn't see a law firm expecting me to have any legal background if I want to intern and do simple secretary shit? Although I am taking intro to law right now though...pretty much the only law class open for non-law students I think.

No, you don't have to have any background, especially with the small firms. The internship I have isn't a set program with a large firm or anything like that. I needed a job and some good experience, they wanted some extra help, so they took me in as an intern.

If you can learn how to navigate through the volumes of statutes, civil and criminal procedure, cases, references, and forms you'll be fine. If you're lucky, they'll have lexis, and you'll be able to use that.

The research I do consists of them giving me background on the case, telling me the question at hand and any key legal terminology, and me finding law or case precedent off of which they could build an argument. You don't really need to take a class for that, though it couldn't hurt.
