it's not a sport, it's Korean martial art. Taekwondo WTF was created for sport issues, olimpics etc. but Takekwondo ITF is still a martial arts (its not just about kicking). Anyway you have to be really agile to be good in Taekwondo. Your tall, if I was you I would do some kickboxing, muay thai, boxing etc. If you want something more spiritual Wing Chun is a missed idea. It's nothing spiritual in it. I trained Ving Tsun which is similar, and it's not that great as they say. It also looks gay and doesn't fit anybody except Asians
To be honest spiritual martial arts are usually weak on the streets, they're being practiced just as a hobby unless you're talking about Muay thai, some styles of Karate and Taekwondo. Grappling is really nice when you're in semi-dangerous situation. It's better to perform a painful armlock than to kick somebody's ass.
It's better than Karate, Boxing and all stuff like that. Don't practice anything as it'll only confuse your kick ass natural talent
P.S. There's Polish blood running thru your veins manIt's better than Karate, Boxing and all stuff like that.

It depends which style of Karate do you want to train.
Taekwondo is really good. I trained it for a year or so and I liked it but it's true you may be umm.. a bit too old to start it's not a sport, it's Korean martial art. The best martial arts are - Wing Chun and Akido....
Personally, I am taking up Muay Thai in the next month... Gonna mix in some Western Boxing, as I trained hard from 5 - 15.... and also gonna add a spiritual side... I got some 1-1 training coming up, and I can tailor it how I want.

It's not going too well right now, I was about to knee this dude in sparring but he managed to somehow kick/push me down faster and I sprained my ankle lol. But it's been going really well other than that. If you don't do Judo which art do you practice normally? How's your training guys?
Last week I took 4rd place (out of about 40 people in my category) in a Judo amateur championship (up to 5kyu).
Funny thing is I never trained Judo.
I did some Ju-jitsu and had some grappling on JKD and Shidokan but damn.. lol
My friend was starting in a pro championship and hooked me up for amateurs. It was a good decision to participate.
I got tired as fuck, it's more exhausting than any other martial arts I fought in so I couldn't make it in the last fight.
I nearly passed out but I'm proud of myself![]()
I thought you said muay thai was too brutal for you? It doesn't get much more brutal than krav maga though.Ive started training in Krav Maga with a little Brazilian Ju Jitsu for ground work and Muai Thai for sparring.

that looked like a decent style for the ground but honestly I thought the stand-up looked a bit weak. But I wouldn't know until I tried sparring with someone who pratices that style I guess.normally I did Taekwondo ITF but I decided to try various different martial arts and that's what I really enjoy.
I'm looking for something that will fit me best.
Currently I train 4days/week at a modern Karate/MMa-like dojo called Sei Budokai.
It's a really interesting style as it's a combination of full contact Karate, Brasilian Ju-jitsu and Judo.
One of our sparrings:
@menace: Judo is a martial art and sport in one.
It sounds like you're describing mixed martial arts. A martial art is simply a style of fighting. In my opinion Judo has NOTHING at all 2 do with material art.....material arts is basically a 'new' sport, that was created through countless movies and therefor inspirate by different styles. But in my opinion every 'sport' or mindset that has 100s of years of history like Judo or karate shouldn't be called material arts, at least not if you take them serious. Wouldn't u agree?
