When media gets blamed for tragedy.

I was just thinking.....sooner or later the media is going to come out and try and say what kind of music or entertainment this Korean shooter that shot up Virginia was into, then they will blame it on that artist, which is always fucked up, I'm just wondering who it will be:

Following the Columbine High School massacre, there were accusations that killers Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold were influenced by Marilyn Manson's music.

When later evidence was presented that neither Harris nor Klebold were fans of the band, many were led to criticize the media for using the band as a scapegoat instead of analyzing the underlying societal problems surrounding the incident.[22]

In the controversial documentary Bowling for Columbine, Michael Moore interviewed Manson about the tragedy. When asked what he would say to the two if he had a chance to talk to them before the killings, Manson replied "I wouldn't say a single word to them; I would listen to what they have to say, and that's what no one did".

Eminem referenced the controversy in his song 'The Way I Am', which contains the line, "When a dude's gettin' bullied and shoots up his school/And they blame it on Marilyn, and the heroin/Where were the parents at?". Marilyn Manson made a cameo in the video for the song, and even contributed vocals to a guitar-heavy remix

It was really fucked up the way the media threw shit onto Marilyn after Columbine, but it only contributed to his notoriety, record sales, and what not so it had a positive side.

Who do you think the conservative Christian right wing media will blame this time?

no, i think i read that they blamed it on a band named "twisted".... i think it was yahoo.com.... but isnt the band's name actually spelled "twiztid" or something like that?? i heard one of their songs once....


oh, and i read the two plays this dude wrote.... they're kinda weird, but not something you'd read and think it was some psychotic fuck... kurt vonnegut would write something like this...

Will have to look into that band, havent heard anything yet myself about that. What genre of music do 'twiztid' make?

I read the plays too, I really liked them, Mr. Brownstone was awesome, that's a great Guns N' Roses song. I don't think there's anything particularly fucked up about those plays, I've written shit like that before.

Look flat out period YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS. You cannot use "oh the song made me do it" as a VALID excuse for your actions. Millions of people listen to that same particular song (just pick one for example) and don't go around shooting other people or fighting with other people.

Also I agree with 'Prize Gotti' People don't care about anybody elses problems but their own. So when you see somebody walking around who is depressed or who talks about really creapy things you don't pay attention to it cuz you've got your own damn problems going on so it pisses me off when people say "How come nobody saw the signs?" Nobody fucking saw it coming because society is so self god damn involved in themselves. They don't give a rats ass about what's going on around them. I mean really, WHY would YOU (as a society) give two shits if your classmate or co-worker is depressed? It's not you with problems. It's them!


On the other hand people also need to learn how to deal with life when they have Physical/psychological/Mental/Emotional ect.. issues and/or are picked on in school or abused at home by their parents. They at that point need to grow up faster than the rest of their peers and mentally and Emotionally learn how to deal with what life has delt them and learn to not take it out on other people by taking fucking guns to buildings and shooting people because your daddy touched you in your private place or whatever the fuck happend to you.

My point was whatever happend to the shooter of this latest incident. Life delt him the hand he was delt and he should have learned how to appropriatly cope just like the rest of society needs to learn how to deal with whatver life deals to them. At the same time I feel horrible for kids who get picked on and don't have the coping skills to deal with it
