We have the Hip Hop confessions thread, so lets do a music as a whole one.

I give no fucks about bands like the Rolling Stones, Sex Pistols or whatever.
Dance music sucks
As much as I see Prince as one of the, if not greatest artist of all time due to this talent alone.. I am not a fan of the majority of his music.
Watching live music doesn't interest me.

I also give no fucks about Rolling Stones etc and I also think the Beetles are over rated and really don't understand the hype

I agree with you on Prince too

Cannot stand heavy metal

Good topic. I like some videos of live performances, but mostly have no use for live concerts, except to hang out with friends. I like the Beatles and Stones and Prince’s best songs but not much the rest. Pink Floyd really bores me. I have little use for Van Halen, Journey, or Aerosmith. I have no use for country music, except for the occasional crossover they play a million times on the radio, which then makes me hate it. I hate you, Taylor. I like some of Springsteen but much of his stuff is boring. I do like Maroon 5, but the radio plays them too much. I have no clue what Aria Grande sings. I do like a catchy Katy Perry song. Sometimes I like Pink. Demi Lovato doesn’t exist for me. Selena Gomez- no. Dua Lipa- what? Christina Aguilera- great voice but I don’t listen. Miley Cyrus- please. I really like Ellie Goulding’s voice & songs. Lincoln Park did nothing for me. One Direction & Bling-182- die!

I cannot stand Ellie Gouldings Voice she sounds like an annoying child, but like her songs if someone else was singing them!

I hate Country music tooo

Agree with Aria Grande, also hate Cardi B and Beyonce (especially her rapping)

Also not a fan of women rapping in general, Lil Kim is OK ish

Interesting to see the amount of variety in peoples' tastes in music.

I actually like many of the older rock bands more than the modern bands. That would include the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith etc. That said, I don't think that music is becoming worse, as there's plenty of great songs coming out pretty much every year. I thought there's more shitty music, but then I look back and realize that when I was a kid there was probably an equal amount of garbage music around. Every year there was a dozen or so major, memorable hits, and I think that didn't change as well. In 10 years I will likely be equally nostalgic about the best of today's music, and I don't think I've enjoyed the popular music (except of fad genres like mumble rap) as much as I do today in a very long time.

I think Ariana Grande is actually a good singer, she has a great voice, and her latest single is catchy. I never understood why people liked Beyonce, and I don't know who Cardi B is.

My biggest confession.. I used to listen to Bon Jovi, and I still find their older songs musically great, yet I've never gotten any positive reactions whenever I shared that thought.

As far as live music is concerned rage against the Machine did a concert at the 2000 democratic national convention that was fucking amazing. I don't like the Beatles sounds like old garbage. Bloodhound Gang is one of my favorite bands. Michael Jackson never did shit for me plus I think he fucked kids. Hall and Oates are dope. Limp Bizkit have some sweet songs. Blink 182/+44/angels and airwaves are pretty awesome. Korn can be awesome. Serj Tankian's solo stuff is better than system of a down.

I thought I was the only one that shared some of these thoughts.

I too don't care too much for live shows. I've seen video of many live performances and I'm not sure I'd enjoy sitting there being yelled at from so far away via a microphone. If I were to go see a live performance, it would have to be someone I really liked and that the sight of them from really far away gives me happiness that "I saw them." I still wouldn't go for the music and instead more for the experience and theatrics many people go to live shows. But I wouldn't pay more than like $20 to do all of this. Or, like, $20 an hour if it's really good.

I've grown out of hip hop, I think, and modern stuff hasn't interested me for a long time.

I listen to music, firstly, for the actual music. Lyrics come second. That's the only thing that keeps me coming back to hip hop because the beats now are more complex but still sound great, for some artists. 2 Chainz and Jeezy both have some superb productions.

I was pissed off that when I was in Vegas we had to watch Gucci Mane perform and missed out on seeing Kurupt in LA.

I listen to songs I don't understand the words to. But I can pick out some words that I understand and I know the overall meaning of some of the songs. Anyone else done the same?

What you mean you don't understand the words too? When I was young I didn't understand 90% of the stuff rappers were talking about. Like in the cut. How was a 12 year old white kid from Australia meant to understand that

Exactly the same. I’ve only ever seen Bone Thugs live and I’m fine with that. Not another artist out there interests me enough to go watch them live.

I like pretty much all genres of music, that said there is crap music and what I think sounds like someone shitting in my ear sounds great to someone else. For example Lil'Steamy song "GripHop" to me I swear it sounds straight up like shit. I like music with a meaning not just someone saying some garbage. Some country is not too bad, for a long time I would avoid it, to me is was just horrible, but I forced myself to listen I began to hear a bit of gospel, rock, blues and other influences I don't like it all that is for sure. Some of the "heavy metal" now a days like FFDP really sounds like the singer just needs a hug it's just too complainy.

( I couldn't make it past 30 seconds of this shit)

We need a thread for hip hop singles as they come out. I know there are sites dedicated to aggregating new singles as they're released, but maybe it can be a thread of singles that all of us have listened to and we just post the ones that are actually good.

That new Kanye, XTCY, was pretty good.

I don't see a thread like I've described, but maybe it's buried in the music section?

Start it up.
