Technology Android

I can't find it on Amazon, for some reason. It was $250, shipped, on SlickDeals within the past week.

Just bought a chromecast. Not exactly sure why.... But... At £30, it's hard not to. I'll probably play with it once and chuck it in a draw. Unless they get XBMC or something..!

I'm also not sure what to do about the Chromecast. I'll either wait for the 2nd Gen one to come out or wait to see if there is going to be a gaming device from Google (hopefully cheap in price), as I could then play my games on there using Cloud-save features.

I'm thinking that with time the Chromecast could be the key to Android gaming and might even kill off Google TV devices - if that's the case then I'm in. But for now, it's just a waiting game.

Pittsey, do you have SportsDevil for XBMC?

I tried it once on Ubuntu and none of the streams were working - something about a 'web error' message.

Nah. I have a satellite system that gives me most games and an IPTV system that gives me the other games. I also have an NBC sports account as a backup. All 380 EPL games streamed online. I haven't needed it yet this season though...!

Oh yeah, how could I forget! I don't even know where to start with those. Which IPTV system do you use? Also, do I have pre-loaded channels on there or do I have to add them by IP address?

You guys gotta do all this crap. Primetime NFL games can be found streaming online by the respective channel. ESPN, NBC, CBS, etc. What's all this IPTV crap?

Streaming online is poor quality. IPTV is close to HD quality. I have an NBC online account that gives me all the games, but it's a last resort. The problem is that we don't have the same transmission laws as they do with the NFL. We can't choose from any game, no matter if it sells out or if it doesn't. There is a concern from the football league that it will affect attendances of lower league clubs if you can watch the top teams live.

Yeah... I am going to be honest. Chromecast is pretty shit. If you are 5 years behind everyone else and you still stream from your laptop to your TV, then it's good for you. If you embraced 2010 with the local networked device or Smart TV, it isn't...!

I disagree, it's fantastic. I got one for my cousin, and there's always loads of people in the house using it. Just being able to use your existing Android/iOS device as a remote with no hassle and no setup is what makes it awesome.

Best Buy selling an off-contract Verizon version of the Moto G for $99.99 - that is a fantastic price.

I see. ESPN's MNF and NBC's SNF are definitely available to stream on their respective websites. It's obviously just one game at that time, so it's easy. I am not sure about the regular games at noon and 3 but I don't think those are.

ESPN also has broadcasted all but about 5 bowl games for college football. This carries over to their WatchESPN service they have where you can watch on your computer from ESPN.com.

For me, that's more than enough. I know I'd love for a baseball equivalent that wasn't like MLB.tv where I had to pay, but I doubt that'll happen. For those, there's the shitty third part sites that aren't that shitty but the video quality is. They're pretty reliable otherwise. I can live with those. I've gotten to a point where I feel like I can live without cable or anything and just use streaming services, legit or bootleg.
