Also... Communism is just a dirty word the Americans have for sharing. The model we have now isn't exactly capitalism is it? The rich don't pay their share and if they fuck up, see 2008 for an example, the government uses the money paid in tax by the poor, to bail them out. So.... Is that not a form of socialism?
What the government did and what many/most people wanted were very different. There was an outrage over the government bailing out the auto industry and many were fine with letting MoTown die if that's what it came down to.
While those companies have come back from it, they are still shit automakers and still dilute the market with shit products. There are always better options than an American car, save for some of their performance cars.
Maybe Elon Musk can buy Detroit and start cranking out more Tesla Model S motors. I am still waiting on RHD versions coming to the UK. I want to buy one.
There's no precedent for an OEM getting more than 2 shots at building a Nexus device (of any one form factor). HTC had two with the G1 and the N1. The G1 was for all intents and purposes the first "Nexus" device. Samsung have had their two, the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus. Asus have had two, with the first and second gen 7". LG have had one with the N4, and LG knocked it out of the park, because the N4 smokes all previous Nexus phones for build quality. So I look forward to another LG Nexus... then they should pass the baton to Sony after that.
I haven't used the N4 and I'm sure it's quality, but did it really have any big, new feature for that time? If it didn't, I think that's what the Nexus title should entail. Bring something new to the table and something that other OEMs can look at and make standard within a few months.
Otherwise, so long as they make the S5 with a Play Edition variant, I'll be happy to buy it if the next Nexus ends up being kinda "meh." I just think if it's coming from Google, it shouldn't just be a minor software update, like ICS and JB kind of have been. Sure, there are tweaks under the hood, but how about some features like the S4 brought in, like one of the best cameras, the eye-sensor stuff, etc. That's what makes these phones exciting, whether people use them or not. These Nexus devices should set standards.

Yeah, the 4 Krait cores meant a big performance jump and even this year's flagships aren't much faster, although LG screwed up a little and it throttled its speeds because of overheating but still it only happens after it's forced to run on 100% of its power for a minute or so - so under normal use it's good and very snappy.
The internal build quality wasn't perfect, but the fact that it was 299$ was groundbreaking (in the US).
So in a way it brought new stuff to the table. It was a very high performing phone (fastest at its time) while at the same time being hands down the best value for money, so it indeed has introduced new standards. The problem is that manufacturers don't care about these standards and still come up with phones over twice as expensive.
If Asus is responsible for their last Nexus 7 now, it's kinda a shame because they worked wonders with it. I bet if another OEM will be making the next 2 N7s it's going to be Samsung. Well, they make decent tablets too. I bet then Asus is going to get the Nexus 10 project for 2 years
Or maybe Sony, they make fine tablets now too.. although the Xperia Z Ultra, while awesome, costs like 700 Euros and is technically a phablet.
I never would have thought ASUS would have been a big player in the Android game. I saw the few phones they came out with in like...2010 and never heard from them again. Their tablets really put them on the map.
I think ASUS has a big enough boost now to continue to sell their tablets without the Nexus name and still do well. Those that know ASUS made the N7s will at least give serious consideration to ASUS tablets alongside the next Nexus model when deciding which to buy.

ICS was the biggest update Android has ever seen.
In regards to Asus, they had been dominating the Android tablet space long before the Nexus 7, that's why they were picked to build it.
There are already rumors that the 3rd generation N7 will be built by LG.
By the way, if anyone in the US is thinking of getting a Nexus 7, there's a 20% off coupon being offered by OfficeMax until this Saturday. Google it and you'll find it. It can be used for the new N7 and brings the price of the 32GB down to less than the normal price of the 16GB.
I meant the update between ICS and JB. Between the two, there may have been some tweaks here and there, but the UI stayed the same. There were a bunch of updates, right? Like 4.0 to 4.0.1 and 4.0.2 or something like that.
And about ASUS, yes, they did make great tablets prior to the 7, like the Transformer. I was saying that's how it should be when being chosen for the Nexus, because they had proven they made good tablets.
I have nothing against LG, but I don't think I could name a single tablet made by them so far, putting aside how good it is.

Samsung will lose out if they do. I don't think they'll just cut their ties, if this is true. I think they'll develop their OS, sell it on a few handsets and gauge the success against the google handsets.

So the new LG G2 has a power button and volume rocker on the back of the phone right below the camera, sort of weird. Makes sense though since that's where your other digits are. You can also wake up the phone with a double tap of the screen which I think is cool

Not a massive issue is it? I can't see it being so. But it goes against the ethos of android. We need a decent Tegra chip.

Samsung has 0 plans of leaving Android. It works great for them so far. They want it as their secondary OS as WP didn't take off, and they don't want to be left with nothing when Google takes Android wrong way, they invested too much in Smartphones yet so far had no control over the OS they were running other than picking one and modding it. With Tizen they'll have full control and a Plan B. The worst Android does, the better for Tizen as there's no other significant player, and in that situation for Samsung it'll be win-win either way.
Apparently according to GSMArena it unlocks itself all the time, lol. I like what LG did to bezels though. I don't feel the design, UI which looks like a cheap TouchWiz knock-off and the back buttons. It'd be cool if this was a base for the new Nexus "4" though as top performing hardware is there. 5,2 will be a tad too big for most people though. I know people said this with 4,3 inch phones but now it's just hard to hold a 5,2 inch phone in one hand. Having the S4, it's my first time ever when I'm thinking that it'd be perfect if it was just a little smaller.
I've never been into this, but Qualcomm are acting like a bitch now because they're making all that money and have the most demanded chips. That's what happens when some companies are given some power. They don't want others to catch up and are doing all kinds of unnecessary actions to protect their code, even if it's mostly unrelated to the way their tech is made.
