If you think RR are crap, go on one of the Range Rover Discovery days and see what they are capable of. Quality is good too, better than Jags anyway.

If they are used for what they are intended, they cant be beat by ze germans. Problem is, most are driven by jew soccer mums just for school runs. I really want to run them off the road and scream "APPRECIATE WHAT YOU HAVE!!!" just so they can see the off-road capabilities!

You won't drive at all, Sofi? I thought I'm strange and outdated when I say that I don't need a car. I live close to everything and I'd use a car only for shorter or longer trips and it's not worth it for me, I'd rather go to Hawaii once a year for the price.

But yeah, if I wanted a SUV I'd go for Range Rover, especially in England where they're cheaper. Most of all they look cool.

That's the plan. If I want to go on a longer trip like to Vancouver, BC I can rent a car or one of my friends will drive. If I have to buy a new TV or something, I'd probably ask a friend for help, etc. But that's not going to be often.

I've been driving since I was 16. Maintaing cars can get expensive and frustrating. You have to pay for the car lease (unless you're a baller and can dish out cash), insurance and gas. You risk getting in accidents every day (i've been in 2 myself as a driver, and 6 total as a passenger). Traffic is frustrating, not good for your mental health lol. Parking is expensive everywhere in the city so driving to work is just stupid. Also, parking where I live costs money (I'd have to pay $100/month just so I can park below my building). My bus pass to go everywhere in the city and its outer limits unlimited is $100 a month. But most importantly, having a car is a guarantee that I'll drive drunk. Since I know myself, I know I can't not drive drunk (after 3-4 drinks that is, I'm pretty good about not driving hammered) so I'd rather just eliminate the possibility.

Also, to add, a good amount of people in the US don't drive who live in cities like Seattle, San Francisco, New York, etc so it's not weird at all.

Cheaper? They are $120,000 in the UK. When you add in the price of fuel, tax and insurance. They are far from cheaper in the UK. Driving in the UK is ridiculous.

@Sofi. Seattle Public transport, and parking sounds pretty reasonable. I parked in Central London for 3 hours and it cose me £70. And it costs £240 to use the train a month.

Tax and insurance are even more expensive here, fuel is slightly cheaper but the salaries are far lower but I'm surprised that Range Rovers are THAT expensive there. After all they're being made in the UK.

I think in the US I would either buy a car or rent one when I needed it like Sofi plans to. In Europe it's a really expensive thing. I'd spend more money on gas than on food alone.
Here the positive side is that German cars are cheap, while in the US they consider them as somewhat premium.

The XF was the last Jag made under Ford ownership. Then they got sold to the Indians. With Range rover. So we'll see what the next design's reliability numbers look like.

They released the Evoque which is also reliable and pretty bad ass offroad even though it is 'girly'. But TML have changed JLR's production quite a bit since taking over and the issue is quality, not design. That all comes from the factory

I remember saying some parts of the XF felt a bit cheap, like they belonged in an entry-level Ford.

I really like Ford right now; the auto crisis really had them go through a renaissance which put a big emphasis on engineering, and not just plopping out some piece of shit V8 into a car that looked like King Kong slapped a block of clay with his dick when he was drunk one night. I like the way the Fusions and their trucks look. The Taurus isn't bad either. But forget the looks, their engines are just out of this world. Their EcoTech(I think that's the name) engines are nuts. I would definitely buy a Ford F-150 or Heavy Duty if given the choice. I don't tow stuff, but I love pickups and I think Fords are the best out there.

Yeah, diesel is 20 cents/litre more expensive than regular fuel here in Australia which I thought was pretty fucked coming from Canada (it's the opposite, diesel is much cheaper).

I drive a land cruiser. But all I do is 4WD. If you want a sweet VW, get an Amarok. Otherwise just keep the Audi.
