Anyone see this documentary or trailer at least? It was financed by the heir to the Proctor and Gamble fortune. It's a bunch of nonsense I say but you're welcome to judge it yourself. You can watch the full documentary for $5 on the website.

I see a lot of truth in what the Trailer is saying. To deny it is to bury your head. It sounds ridiculous to some, because we have been conditioned that way by the media. I am wondering on the agenda behind this documentary though. Is it to enlighten people, or to make it sound completely ridiculous and make it impossible for people to believe.

The agenda is libertarian and Tea Party nonsense. It's sprinkled in with just enough sense that people don't dismiss it completely. The agenda is found within the solutions they provide. In essence, the solutions are less government and less or no taxes at all. They advocate voluntary taxation. Hmm. Where have I heard about less government and less taxes? Could it be the Tea Party? I don't know....

Also, the truth that is provided is largely irrelevant. It goes something like this:

1. Oil companies need to make money from oil

correct.

2. The medical education system is influenced and funded by pharmaceutical corporations.

sure.

3. The governments of the world and the elite are hiding the source of free, clean unlimited energy.

WAIT WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU SMOKING?

lol. I said it was fact mixed in with things which are ridiculous.

Also... Have you seen more than that trailer? I don't remember tax being discussed.

And... You are missing the points..

1. Oil companies are corrupt. Look at the Bush family for many obvious problems. And they are stifling work on eco fuels and renewable energies. Oil companies rely on our addiction to oil. While there may not be truth in aliens teaching us how to get free self renewing energy, they have bought many patents and stopped the world from advancing. I know you will claim a capitalist agenda, and claim any corporation would do the same. But it could end up destroying the earth and ending the human race.

2. Isn't there a large problem there? Is it ethical that pharmaceutical companies influence future generations of medical scientists and doctors. Again they are stifling development of the human race for money. The money is in treatment not cure. Was Alexander Fleming trying to get rich when he discovered penicillin, Was Ronald Ross, Robert Koch, Paul Ehrlich. I imagine not. They were trying to do good, and help the human race. We seem to have gotten lost, and money seems to be the presiding factor in everything we do. No where more so than in the USA. A money obsessed country.

3. This may not be true. And I haven't backed any of the points 100% from the documentary. But oil companies are among the richest corporations in the world. The banks and oil companies are in bed with the politicians, and some of them are politicians (see Bush again.). This isn't a democracy, there is a massive ruling elite pulling the strings, and always has been, always will be. It's all based on greed and will stop us from leaving this little green and blue planet, and will ultimately destroy it.

In regards to taxes. It is only the middle that pays them. The rich don't pay them. The poor don't pay much or at all. It's the middle that is ever squeezed. And after the obscenely rich (banks) have fucked up, we have to pay more than ever.

I'm not missing the point. My point is that they're using evident things as evidence for crazy things. It's fallacious. Just because oil companies are corrupt and the Fed prints money doesn't mean that there's a shadow elite hiding free energy from us. It doesn't matter that the oil companies are corrupt. That's just the hook to get you believe the ridiculous things.

I didn't see more than the trailer but I read a lengthy review that spells out the solutions the documentary provides.

I agree with the point you've made. That's pretty much what I meant when I said this -

By chucking some ridiculous points in, it discredits the whole thing. And while there may not be a renewable energy source hidden from us. Oil companies are making it as hard as possible for other to create a decent alternative to fossil fuels.

I also find it difficult to take any documentary with David Icke in, seriously.

"If you want alternative energy, you don't ask an oil economy to produce it for you, you ask dolphins."

I really want to watch a documentary filled with pseudoscience and crops circles

While I am not saying I am a believer. I am open to even the weirdest theories. What we consider scientific fact now, have been viewed with disbelief in the past.

You have no idea how many times I've tried to explain the Ancient Aliens guy to people

I keep meaning to watch him on youtube.

Yeah, I always give kooky shit a listen. You never know; some of it may make sense and help fill in the holes of your understanding of the world around you. Then it's not so "kooky" anymore.
