Gaddafi captured (killed) ???

They are caring about their own business by invading others who threaten their economic situation. If the "gold dinar" thing was true America would have very hard time controling their economy and in result they would risk not being able to pay their debts and go bankrupt.

by their own i meant their actual citizens. sure they want to gain control over resources, but their economy is seriously ill and their people are getting slowly but surely mad.

Wars tend to boost the economy, at least in the past. So we'd just start another one, take a European control off the face of the Earth and then go back to pretending nothing ever happened.

AMERICUHHHHHH!!! FUCK YEAHH!!!!!

here is a question for anyone that said or agreed that people in the video acted animalistic. when you think about an answer to this, consider two things: 1) gaddafi's record of breaches of international human rights, and 2) the fact that the country was in a state of on-going civil war. what's animalistic?

another question / reiteration of the poont im subtly trying to make: what do you think happens in a war?

Some people might find its a good thing because it would install democracy in Libya. But I concur with you, it's definitely bad. And as far as I know none of the countries the USA are "handling" is faring well. Maybe it's time the Americans take care of their own instead of pretending to care for others.

Some people have been brainwashed by the media then. This whole war, as any war in the history of man kind, is about Wealth.

Ahhh. But we don't like to think of what happens in a war. We want to believe that abuse of Citizens does not take place, and only Soldiers are affected. Unfortunately brutality and rape is common place in warfare, even with developed countries such as USA and UK.

^Yeah. Do you remember the wikileak document that proved that American soldiers used to go on killing sprees in Iraq - killing women and childred? They would say that they died from random bombings but that was not true, they just went there and murdered civilians. Lately CNN credited Wikileaks for taking part in American troops going home, because they have a deadline from the Iraq government - after this year American troops would face trial for their crimes. And Obama made it sound like they're finally coming home after they successfully "liberated" Iraq and gave their citizens freedom. The propaganda is really very big out there.

Two things bother me about his death...

1. How he was killed. He may be a martyr for some now...

2. There was no trial. He will never be recognized as guilty for his human rights violations.

Okay, those are fair arguments for why it was wrong, which I don't disagree with. I just don't see any justification or explanation for what's animalistic about it. I'm assuming we're talking about the fact that they are dragging him around and slapping his head. Which guy hasn't been in a fight? If it's animalistic then we are animals. No wait...

The point is, we are all capable of this. I'm gonna throw an idea out there. We are taught not to behave like this because of the principle that you are guilty until proven innocent, so that an innocent person does not receive unfair treatment for something they didn't do. Gaddafi killed many thousands in the massacres that led to the civil war. We can't know that he did it, we can be very sure though. He refused to listen to the majority of his people and instead went to war with them. Let's assume the people in this video lost family members, friends, and so forth in the attacks. In that context I don't see animalistic behavior, I see expected human behavior. The fact that he was killed was judicially and ethically wrong. I just don't like the word "animalistic" I guess.

Fuck the troops
My wife has class with some ex military folks... they told her that when they first went into Afghanistan/Iraq the troops would give local kids chocolates and sweets to run through fields they thought might have mines in them...

Bush and Blair have also committed war crimes. Should they suffer the same end?

The most animalistic part about it to me were the screams "Allah Akbar!" when they were punching and pulling him, sometimes laughing, running around, pushing each other around. It was far worse than animalistic to me actually. Calling them a pack of monkeys would be a disrespect to monkeys.
I've watched my share of war videos where guys were killing each other, killing innocent people too but this one is the most disgusting because of how these guys acted in the process.

Chimpanzees. Similar behaviour.... Or Baboons.

Animals protect territory, will fight to the death over it. We like to romanticize Animals, but they have some fucked up ways too. Male Lions will kill the cubs of other Males when he takes over a new Pride. We as humans have social rules that have evolved over time to the point where we don't react in a primal way. Although for some there are outlets such as sports. And for others getting blind drunk and fighting random strangers releases some of that tension. For the rest, there's the internet lol.

Exactly.

The further evolved we become the less we behave like animals. I, as an evolved man, see problems with what is done to Gaddafi. Preach and The Libyans, do not.

I'm with Preach on this one. Wars turn people into animals. Most of those guys weren't professional soldiers to begin with. They were students, engineers, teachers, etc. You don't know what kind of grievances they had and you don't know what they all went through in the last 6 months during the rebellion. They also probably weren't functioning under any sort of of concrete, direct orders.

I agree with your comments, but I don't think it's how a civilised society behaves. I am just directing this to people who believe the end of Gaddafi is a good thing for democracy, because it will make no difference. Like when Gaddafi and Fidel came to power in their respective Countries... A Social ideology is replaced by a lust for power.

I think it's sad that people were put in a situation that enabled them to act that way. I can understand it, people can only be pushed so far, we do break. But I think it's sad, and I think ultimately his death doesn't mean a peaceful Libya.

The far left thinks Obama is too conservative and the far right thinks he's too liberal. Can't win. But I'd vote for him again if I was a US citizen. He's still Jesus compared to Bush. And Perry, Romney, Bachmann and the rest of the Republican looney bin.

You're gonna throw Ron Paul in to the same "looney bin?"
