^Yeah a total disaster for the Argentinian FA who introduced ridiculous rules so the top teams would never be relegated now River are down. Such a shame, though I prefer Boca over River this should never happen.

Same. always preferred Boca, but it's very sad. I saw videos of grown men crying in the streets like if they just lost a son. As you said, a fucking disaster.

yea its shocking that they relegated. werent they close to it a few years back too? but they came back and one championship 3 years ago.

its sad for their fans but tough shit as well. they werent good enough and they got relegated. thats the way football should be and no team should have an exemption from it but all around the world certain teams do get special treatment.

and yea i also like Boca better than River Plate but ofc i acknowledge what a great club it is and the many great players that came from there.

Yeah but they were good enough this season, its the previous two seasons which is why they went down, its a ridiculous rule. But yeah it is tough shit but a team of that standing should not be relegated, the people behind the scenes have fucked things up.

The coach who sent them down once said he would never manage scum like River Plate, he then does, and..sends them down.

Yeah I may have confused Passarella with the coach, but apparently a lot of people behind the scenes at River actually dislike the club.

Anyway World Cup Qualifying has started mainly in Asia!

From Asia:

Malaysia 2:1 Chinese Taipei
Vietnam 6:0 Macau
Mongolia 1:0 Myanmar
Bangladesh 3:0 Pakistan
Sri Lanka 1:1 Philippines
Afghanistan 0:2 Palestine
Nepal 2:1 Timor-Leste
Cambodia 4:2 Laos

From CONCACAF:

Montserrat 2:5 Belize

India get a by into round two where they will play UAE and get knocked out.

Quick fact no-one will care about, its the Philippines first ever campaign, they only recently decided to scout for players eligible for their national team

but Passarella played for them and everything. he is pretty much River Plate through and through. I dont think you were mixing him up with the coach though unless he really did say that which would be a shock. The coach, Juan Lopez, also played with River but he joined Boca afterward so maybe he said it. Almeyda is their new coach

The Copa America started last night. Argentina are so disjointed. The 3 midfielders are all deep lying players, leaving the attackers to do everything, Lavezzi and Tevez were woeful.

hizzle?

Oh..interesting. repped. Never noticed they weren't in the qualifications before... I love facts like that.

One thing I love about the Copa America is that its lack of care. Teams just decide to attack each other even if they're 1-0 up with a minute to go, the players will go flying foward trying to make it 2-0. The quality isn't obviously as good as the Euros but I find it just as exciting.

A section of a Dutch soccer stadium collapsed during off-season construction work Thursday, trapping people underneath, police said.
No match was being played at the FC Twente stadium at the time of the collapse and those trapped were believed to be workers. Local newspaper De Twentsche Courant, citing unnamed workers at the stadium, reported on its website that 12 people were injured in the accident.
Police did not immediately give an official number of victims. The local hospital declined comment and referred media to the Enschede Municipality, whose staff did not return calls.
"People are trapped, but we don't know how many," police spokesman Jan Lamberts told The Associated Press.
Part of the roof caved in around midday (1000 GMT). Photos posted on local news websites showed a large section of the roof had crashed onto a bank of red seats behind one of the goals.
Phones at the club went unanswered and the team spokesman did not immediately return a call seeking comment. The team, Dutch national champion in 2010 and runner-up last season, was training in the southern province of Zeeland at the time of the collapse.
Twente is in the third qualifying round of next season's Champions League and is scheduled to host a match at the Grolsch Veste stadium on July 26-27 or Aug. 2-3. The exact date will be decided next week.
The construction work was intended to increase the stadium's capacity to 30,000 from 24,000 by adding a new tier above existing seating.
The stadium is on the edge of Enschede, 160 kilometres (100 miles) east of Amsterdam. Part of the city was destroyed and 22 people were killed on May 13, 2000, when a fireworks storage depot exploded.

That's why Duke doesn't post anymore - the roof collapsed on him, he's fucking dead.

I saw that earlier, wtfuck.

I watched Argentina last night, I ranted on another forum how awful they are and how tactically inept the manager seems to be. Why play 3 holding midfielders!? they then expect Tevez/Lavezzi/Messi to run 30-40 yards with the ball to create a chance on goal. Despite playing two natural holding mids (Masch and Cambiasso) they still get caught out every single time the opposition attacks. What the fuck is wrong with them.

Banega.
They could change it by dropping Cambiasso and playing Pastore. He can link midfield with the attack.
