Get an Acer Revo. Cheap and does a good job, especially with XBMC.

thanks. i've given my friend a list of specs if he can build me one. could make it cheaper by installing ubuntu on there as opposed to windows.

I still prefer the Revo. I picked up the 3700 for £185 with Ubuntu on it.

I still prefer the Revo. I picked up the 3700 for £185 with Ubuntu on it.

i googled it and I found one with Linux on it for approx the same price. I'm just waiting to hear back from my friend to see the price he quotes and then i'll decide.

the alternative is google tv via the logitech revue, but that'll cost just as much - so might as well get a mini PC - can even bring all the consoles to the living room using emulators.

I am not sold on google TV, yet. I am happy with XBMC. It does way more than google tv does currently. I am sure googletv will move quickly and surpass XBMC, but until then....
