Supposedly they're releasing a new version of the SGS2 next month that does have NFC. That's what my cousin is waiting for, Orange told him that they'll have the NFC version within a month or so.

my bf got it too. i must say i'm pretty damn jealous. my next phone will def be an android. no doubt in my mind.

that's what you said last time, then you went and bought an iPhone anyway, DIDNT CHA!!!!!! lol

srsly though it's nice to see ppl digging the Xperia Play. It's a fucking cool-ass device. I need my qwerty keyboards, but I still like it a lot.

Thanks to my ISP and it's fucking abysmal upload speeds, I've only managed to upload 7,000 songs so far. And I've had access since less than an hour after it was announced. I fucking love it though, I hadn't put ANY music on my Nook, so to have the entire library on there is awesome, and it looks gorgeous on the bigger screen as well.

I have emulators running on it for NES/SNES/GENESIS/GBC/GBA/N64/MAME/PSX and all run fuckin perfectly and all work with the dpad and buttons. All im waiting for now is for them to finish up the dreamcast emulator for android so i can have that on the go too!

I'm considering the LG Swift Black. I like the looks of it.

Also T-Mobile have recently entered our market, they'll announce their full offer tomorrow but I know already that they will have a nice offer on LG Black. I just don't know if it's worth going for T-mobile. 18-month contracts for those who prolong their offers are tempting (instead of 36 or 24 month in best case with other carriers).

Yeah it's what I really, really hate the most about our carriers. They want to get people tied for 36 months, 24 month contract is the shortest one. Also in both options phones are expensive so actually it's a bit cheaper to use pre-paid and buy unlocked phones from time to time.

Oh there are shorter sim-only contracts which are inferior to 2 or 3 year contracts.

The progress rate in mobile tech is so rapid right now that I already feel myself looking at new phones, only 7 months after getting my G2. I'm by no means unhappy with it - I love it, but the dual-core processors and NFC chips etc are definitely interesting to me.

I'm still not willing to give up my qwerty keyboard though.

I'm hoping that Samsung bring out a dual-core, NFC equipped sequel to the Epic 4G, and have an international release this time around, or at the very least a GSM version with the correct bands that I can import from somewhere. A 4" screen, 5-row keyboard, FFC and NFC chip would suit me perfectly right now.

/\ Yup, Gingerbread is optimized for dual-core, Honeycomb even more so, and the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich release will be optimized for the quad-core chips that will be shipping in phones and tablets by the end of the year, like the NVIDIA Tegra 3 Kal-El Processor.

I'm impressed! The capability gulf between pc's and mobile phones narrows even further. How much RAM are these phones packing?

Galaxy S2 has a dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM. I would imagine that the high-end quad core models coming out in mid 2012 will have at least 1.5GB of RAM if not 2.

I think mobile devices are destined to become the guts of all the computers we use, like how the ATRIX has the laptop dock and the Asus Padfone tablet dock is powered by the phone also. Most of these high end phones have HDMI now and they just added USB hosting support to Android meaning you could simply connect a monitor via HDMI and a mouse/keyboard/other accessories via wireless USB or bluetooth.

This is Android aside. Apple just spoke about their iOS5, and they'll be creating their own BBM, known as iMessage. Even though its not cross-platform, it should hit RIM somewhat.

Retarded idea from Apple. The entire reason BBM has been losing ground over the past 12 months is BECAUSE it's platform-restricted. Epic Apple fail.

Also, don't the new iOS 5 notifications look familiar? Hmm, a panel you pull down from the top that contains all your notifications info.... sounds kinda familiar.... lol
