he's got lyrics.

i remember the cypher on the time westwood show (flava - channel 367 on sky). it was freestyle of the week. there was devlin, ghetts and some other black geezer. he was ripping them apart lyrically, the others were too repetitive and were using the same words every so often. they were just rapping, not going against each other but it was clear who the best was and the other two were impressed, you could see it on their faces.

okay, there were four then.

and ghetts looks like a rat.

Somebody needs to tell these British blokes that their accent just doesn't work for rap. It works if you're trying to sing Viva La Vida. Hell, maybe even on a dance track. But please, leave rap to American English.

but the lyrics are there. i think some people pull it off okay, sounds more raw. it is a matter of opinion. some people i can stand, others i cant. so i kinda agree with you sofi... i see what you mean.

did you even listen to the tracks i posted?

Viva La VIda was sung by a Scottish bloke. his accents couldnt be anymore different to Devlin's accent.

this guy is really good. i dont even notice his accent that much tbh. He has something about him imo. a lot better than most of the trash that comes out of there.

exactly. there are interviews featuring devlin and his accent really shows in those when he's speaking. when he's rapping its different.

its like Marsha Ambrosius (Liverpool, England), Corinne Bailey Rae (Yorkshire, England) and Laura Izibor (Repbulic of Ireland) when they all sing - you wouldn't think that they're all British.

Not saying that you can't tell that Devlin is, but you dont really pay too much attention to their accent when you get used it to. mayve its more evident in rap.

Chris Martin sounds un-American, language wise. So the point stands.

I listened to the first one. I stopped when he said something about making someone dead like Biggie and Tupac. Not just because it's a lame, overused line, but because I can't get past his accent. You don't notice the accent much because you live in that geographic area of very shitty accents.

alright, the last sentence was a joke, I like the accents. But in films. Not in rap.

fair enough but its still a shitty reason not to give a guy a chance. he is really good imo.

as for the Biggie and 2Pac line, i agree, it has been done to death but the rest of that diss is pretty good if you bothered to listen to the rest of it. also bare in mind that he is 21 now and that was recorded 4 years ago. He is dissing Wiley btw.

you cant listen to Slick Rick's The Great Adventures of Slick Rick either right?

Fact of the matter is, this guy has more talent than the rest of the garbage that comes out of London put together. well from what ive heard at least.
