That's the exact one. It's an incredible piece of culinary genius. Everything just blends into the perfect storm of delicious. The smooth cool of the veganaise and avocado compliments the hot Sriracha sauce and fresh (not pickled) Jalapenos. The onions, tomato and lettuce make the perfect bed for the braised, marinated tofu chunks covered in nutritional yeast.

I have to have this sandwich on at least three occasions every time I go to Portland. When I move there, I will have to be at least twice a month if not more. It's just epic beyond epic.

If any of you guys ever go to Portland, this sandwich is what you need to go and get.

Because i would like to go out and try some non-meat dishes for a change. i dont eat meals out too much, but when i do it usually involves chicken. i absolutely LOVE most vegetarian foods - of course it depends what they are though.

Fuck, I wish I knew how it was prepared. I'd eat that shit every day. I tried to make it myself at home, and whilst what I made was certainly tasty, it didn't have the magic touch of the Weeping Tiger. One day, I will buy an additional one and take it home to study it's creation.

The bread is important. It's a sourdough - crusty, chewy and freshly baked, from a place in Portland called Grand Central Bakery. Their website offers the following description:

Grand Central Sourdough
This loaf features a chewy interior honeycombed with irregular holes surrounded by a crisp crust. Sourdough is great with a hearty stew or a thick chop, and makes a great tuna sandwich.

The consistency of this bread works perfectly for the sandwich. I can't explain why.

Portland is pretty much the vegan capital of the world, lol. Incredibly green city, rivers and fields all over the place, low pollution, great air quality and very eco-friendly. There's more dedicated bike lanes there than any other city in the world, I think.

So... no, I don't think there's anything in Birmingham that comes close, although I would definitely recommend that you go here:

It's in Digbeth just around the corner from the Bullring. It's the only place in Birmingham to get real quality vegan food in terms of going out somewhere. Lots of vegetarian options also. The menu is on the site if you're interested.

The 'nutritional' part isn't used as an adjective to describe yeast (as in 'I had a nutritional salad yesterday) it's the name of the product. "Nutritional yeast". It's produced in a specific way and it's different from regular yeast.
