I have never met a minority that has not been out of the country. Sure, crack your Mexican and Cuban jokes. But everyone has visited their motherland at least once. Ok, maybe not all the Blacks I know.

I didn't to make it a white thing, but like I said, from personal experience, most of the people that have never been on an airplane or out of the US are white.

Also... I didn't say earlier that Britain is like Oz or the States. I said it has more in common with either of them than every other European country. If you've been to the UK and / or US and Oz... Then you'll get it. If you haven't then you probably won't.

I live near Windsor, currently. It is a very popular tourist place, what with the Queen and all. Only American tourists I see are white middle aged.

I would imagine it to be so in America. In Britain, almost everyone has been to another country via a plane.

In Europe it's so easy to travel, there are so many countries on one single continent. In North America, there are very few countries, but many different provinces and states with different lifestyles. It sounds (and is) way more exciting to visit another country than another state/province. Also I'd imagine it's cheaper to travel in Europe if you live in Europe than to fly to a different continent.

I'd love to travel. I've been to Italy & Greece. But it's a question of $. I'm investing in school, and my lifestyle here (my condo for example).

Windsor is a beautiful area.

I think it depends on what people are willing to do to travel. I saved enough money to go to Europe for a month in 7 months. It was a rare opportunity to go before my friend was going back to Uni so if it was gonna happen I had to spend almost nothing and save everything. My hourly rate at work wasn't fantastic either. The flight from Australia to London is 23 hours. So I do think it comes down to what your willing to go without to travel. I love it and think it's worth the sacrifice to experience something totally different. Although next time I'm gonna save longer, I wanna get all my travelling done before more expensive responsibilities occur.

Fact is, people here are xenophobic as hell. If you're not from here, people are going to look down on you and think you're just "some dumb foreigner", ESPECIALLY if you're American. Or Canadian, because it's the same thing to most people here.

Mine (and Gotti's) experiences are the polar opposite, and it's freakin awesome. Being an Englishman in the States is FOR THE WIN.

Girls love your accent. Everyone assumes you are really intelligent as soon as they find out you're from England. Everyone is a million times friendlier, which is a nice change, seeing as most people here are miserable cynical bastards. Weather is better.

And the best thing is that we can actually say that it's an awesome country without coming off as a smug, overly patriotic cunt. lol

If you travel within Europe, and if you don't live on an island, like Britain. Also.... When I holiday I don't holiday in Europe. I usually have a flight in excess of 13 hours... And that isn't cheap.

That's a definite. When I was in New York everyone kept going on about how everyone is rude. I was thinking it wasn't as rude as the UK. I prefer it when people don't talk to me though.

When I get around to doing Aus and NZ, I will be stopping off somewhere on the way for a few days. I am thinking Singapore on the way out and San Francisco or LA on the way back.

Alot of people stop off in Singapore, it's supposed to be really beauitful although humid which I don't like.. I only saw the airport which was nice, for an airport haha.. LA isn't really on the way back, quite the detour but why not haha..

Untrue. I've had nothing but respect from people in the US. Even when people have thought I was Mexican cos of my skin tone lol.

I'm not saying there's no xenophobes in the US, but it's way more prevalent here in the UK.

That's because everyone is an immigrant in the US unless they are Native American. Most people I meet realize that and treat everyone with respect.

Even most of the white people I know there, it was their grandparents or great-grandparents that moved there, so they're very much aware of their cultural background of coming from different places in Europe etc.

And does that say something about the Americans or the English?

I don't care who it says more about, I just know that it's awesome, lol
