The new Amsterdam, except for the fact that they also legalized hard drugs! You can have 1,5 gram of heroin on you lol

Long known for a liberal policy on drugs, the Czech Republic is now officially quantifying its status as one of European Union's most lenient member states when it comes to decriminalizing drug possession. But these new guidelines come among signs that the rest of Czech drug policy is not keeping pace with other EU members and contradicts law enforcement tactics being utilized to tackle alcohol abuse.

On Dec. 14, Prime Minister Jan Fischer's government approved new standardized limits, delineating criminal and misdemeanor drug offenses. Starting Jan. 1, the new numbers will allow a person to possess, for example, up to 15 grams of marijuana or 1.5 grams of heroin without facing criminal charges. Anybody possessing less than these amounts is eligible to be charged for a misdemeanor, but may also receive little more than a warning from police.

pack your bags everybody, we're all moving to the czech republic! yay!

Awesome thing is, my favorite weekend vacation spot is a few kilometers from the Czech Republic boarder and we're all in the Schengen Agreement ;)

OK, I blame myself for not reading the full article and Masta just because he's Polish.

The drugs aren't legalized, it's that they're not basically felony offenses anymore, but misdemeanors. Think of cocaine possession in the States. It's a felony. In the Czech Republic, under the new laws, a gram or less is a misdemeanor. But what confuses me is that misdemeanors, according to the article, are not criminal offenses while in the States, they are. The difference is that you can still vote with a misdemeanor, you can get jobs lol, and you don't spend a lot of time (if any) in prison.

Anyway, this is good news. It's something many are pushing for in the States.

Yeah that's even in the quoted part.
I took my time to read the whole thing in Czech and basically it comes down to the fact that if they find any drugs on you you'll get a warning or in bad case a small cash fine, in worst case (if you're supposedly a dealer) arrest. If nobody suspects that you'll sell these drugs it'll be just a warning.
That makes drugs pretty much legal since I don't know a person that would be scared of a warning for having drugs on him lol

^But it was like that before, for weed anyway. While I studied in Prague this summer, I smoked weed in public with this Czech dude and he was saying how the cops really didn't give a fuck.
