These are the types of show that I like..and have been hooked on:

Smallville
Lost
Prison Break
Dexter

I'm on the last CD (avail on dvd) for Dexter and I want to get hooked onto another drama type show.

So if there's something I'm missing that's out there, please point me to it.

I kinda start watching 24...so far 2nd disc in, I'm not really feeling it that much.

Tv shows I can rent @ like blockbuster or something, not on actual tv.

And, I'd like it if it were a drama series.

Didn't get into True Blood...was ok, but nothing special.

Mad Men was good, not sure about the new season tho...

The Wire > All

Sopranos, Band of Brothers, Peep Show, Generation Kill, The West Wing.

All very good series that I've watched

I don't want to dissuade you from watching The Wire, because it is the GOAT, but based on the shows you mentioned I think you might like:

Six Feet Under. Before Michael C. Hall was a likeable serial killer, he was a somewhat likeable undertaker.

Damages. Season one, anyway. Season two was less good.

Nurse Jackie. Another one from Showtime. I'm not sure it's out on DVD quite yet.

Weeds. I haven't seen much of it, but it's good. I don't know why it's classed as a comedy at the Emmys.

Durham County. It's Canadian.

Spooks. If you liked the idea of 24 but not the execution, you could try to find this British show. I wasn't keen on Season 1, but then I picked up at Season 5 and really liked it. Season 8 starts soon over here. Later seasons tend to have story arcs, rather than a collection of standalone episodes.

You could also check out Supernatural, The Shield and Fringe. I don't really like any of those shows, but then I do have better taste than you.

At the moment I'm watching Fringe (Good 1st season, not sure where it's going now) and Flashforward (I like it, but there's plans for a lot of series apparently?)

EDIT: Woo! Spooks!
