obama's health care speech.

^Still deploying. I have friends who are still being shipped out. I think we can all safely agree that the troops will still remain there even after his planned 'pullout.'

The only significant change i've witnessed so far is going from a stupid, atrociously speaking, low IQ having leader, to a smarter, well presented leader who just happens to be a great speaker.

He said the plan would be paid for by eliminating hundreds of billions of dollars in waste and fraud, as well as subsidies in Medicare that go to insurance companies. The rest of the cost would be covered by revenues from drug and insurance companies.

He said the plan would make it illegal for insurance companies to deny healthcare coverage because a customer has a pre-existing condition, or to drop or water down coverage to those who get sick. Insurance companies would also be barred from placing annual or lifetime caps on coverage.

It would also limit how much Americans could be charged for out-of-pocket expenses and require insurance companies to cover, at no extra charge, routine checkups and preventive care like mammograms.

He ended by saying we're all going to party like it's 1999.

No shit? Really? Thats a new tactic.. Giving a speech to CONVINCE people of his ideas? Wow.. Thats like revolutionary! I'm shocked..

Umm, everyone knows his points. Everyone knows Obama is a great speaker. His healthcare ideas aren't winning the stubborn over so he uses his great speech giving skills and wins em over that way. Pretty much a commom sense sort of thing. So sorry I was shocked that you asked a dumb question and I replied with a dumb sarcastic answer

My question was what was the information that he was trying to get across. Everyone in the UNITED STATES might know his points but I am in AUSTRALIA and I dont keep up to speed with American politics, sorry. Remember this is an International forum.

Yeah the world doesn't spin around Obama and the US.
I don't know about health care in America but all I see on the news here is people hating on him for his health care plans, that he wants to force everyone to pay insurance like the rest of the world or something.

Surely you care whether everyone has access to affordable healthcare?

Stay out of our business, it doesn't concern you

Well, in my country we pay a lot for that and everybody is forced to do so. After taking taxes, insurance and every mandatory thing you basically get ~-35-40% off your salary.
They will diagnose you for free and prescribe drugs that are fucking expensive since there's no reduction on that and if you're seriously ill like cancer you have to wait in "the line" to the hospital literally for months or even years. They'll care only if something happens to you and you need an operation immediately which means it's usually too late. You can pay a lot to make it all faster or go to a private clinic. Sure if you break your arm or something they will help you but it's not an expensive service anyway. Oh and if you're older than say 80 years old nobody will care for you anyway. You have to pay for everything since you won't get any free examinations even though you pay that mandatory insurance for all your life.
Poor people are fucked anyway with the only difference that their salary is even lower thanks to that 'insurance'.
In short we pay high insurance but it doesn't feel like we're insured. The whole country pays shitloads of money while hospitals are going bust. That system is really fucked up and I'll always be against any mandatory shit like this.
I'd rather get a few hundred dollars more every month and if I break my arm I'll pay for a high quality 'service' from my own savings. If I'll have any serious illness considering that I want to survive I'll have to pay for curing me no matter if I'm insured or not.
I don't believe that this pseudo-socialist service would work anyway near how Obama describes it right now, even considering that everything in America works a bit better than here.

As far as i know, Germany has the best health care system from all the bigger countries. So yeah, im lucky to be here.

Germany ftw.

It's free here also... it has its problems such as waiting time and more, but I'd rather pay high taxes to know the service is always there if something happens, then not pay any taxes and a freak accident happens where I have to pay 50 000$.

Blah, there's a lot of problem's with Quebec's health care... For instance, the doctors and the surgeons have a limit of patients they can take care of in a day, if not they get a cut on their paycheck...

Still better than paying 50 000$ to remove your appendix before it blows, no?
