I'm talking about the places you hear about artists you're not familiar with. Websites, magazines, TV channels, radio stations, people...where do you discover new stuff?

For me:
Friends, usually sending me stuff over MSN, occassionally copying CDs for me. A handful of people with similar tastes.
Magazines, namely NME. I check out any bands they're raving about, see if I like them. I get Kerrang! delivered each week, but there's rarely anything of interest in there.
The only website I really go to for this kinda thing is Pitchfork. I check out their news/reviews and then download everything from their free downloads section.

I don't tend to listen to the radio or watch the music channels on TV much.

One particular friend is good at music. I listen to him. I also listen to The Loft (XM50, I think), on XM radio. It's very good for finding new stuff.

NME mag.... this week they got a free CD of the best new bands.....a few good tracks on there
Shit, I forgot about that. I tend to buy it on the way to Uni, but since we're off for Easter I didn't get a chance.

Usually from my friends, they've all got quite a wide range in musical taste, so whenever I'm with 'em I usually hear something new, whether it's a bluegrass band, metal, reggae, whatever.
