Atlanta based rap group YoungBloodz were arraigned last week in the packed, standing room-only courtroom of Coweta County Superior Court last Wednesday morning.

Attorneys Michael Kam and Brian Lewis, of Newnan firm Kam, Ebersbach and Lewis, were hired by most of the defendants, including Sean Paul, whose real name is Sean Paul Joseph.

Joseph was in the Cranford Hall courtroom to plead not guilty Wednesday morning, while J-Bo, whose real name is Jeffrey Grigsby, had Atlanta attorney Charles Graham to enter his plea of not guilty to the charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a gun/knife during the commission of a crime.

Additional arrests included Brandon Henry Lee, Denier Renard Smith, Villus Deandre Hose, Kirk Shackleford, Anthony Ray Edwards, Gregory Bernard Britt, Damon Tremayne Green, Marcus Antwann Thomas, Michael Wayne Cook, Thadford Montiez Swan, Timothy Lee Bryant and Alex Alonzo Childs.

Everyone except Smith and Thomas have been indicted on the same charges as Joseph and Grigsby. Smith was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and Thomas was charged with possession of a gun/knife during the commission of a crime.

On June 1, the group was on the way to Columbus for a show when what started as a traffic stop for an expired tag ended in a drug bust.

The Newnan-Coweta Crime Suppression Unit seized approximately a half pound of marijuana in a number of separate bags following a search of the tour bus. Officers also located two pistols — one .40 caliber Glock and one .45 caliber Taurus — hidden on the bus.

Judge William F. Lee set a trial date of Feb. 19 for all fourteen men.
