You are where you live. A blog I thought Id share...

I totally agree with you Rukas. I feel the same and I have moved now.

But I remember as a kid I'd change my anwer up depending who asked the question. If it was someone who I felt needed to know I was from a rough area I'd answer "slough". And usually it worked. It created fear amongst certain people and respect.

But if it was someone whom I wanted to appear well brought up to, like a girls mother, I'd say Windsor. It's just down the road and the Queen lives there so it's pretty nice.

Now I live in Windsor so I don't need to lie anymore and it was sad that I did it in the first place. But that was a few years ago when cared about reputations and all that gay shit that comes with Youth. Now I just tell it like it is, I aint ashamed to be me. Or proud to have been rough.

Yes I live in Windsor, yes I grew up in Slough. That's me.

it is a melnacholy that individuals continue to judge others based on their social or economic status which in this case are the same thing, yet it is in some sense true that people especially at younger ages from poorer areas and neighrborhoods tend to act in a more lets call it delinquent manner than richer more sophisticated ares. However ofcourse i am not generalizing at all, i know the socio-economic status is not the key variable to ignorance, violence or any negative notion, i am merely discussing the fact that even though i know for a fact that there is a huge % of poor families that have high morals and values, whom are well educated and established human beings, the fact still remains that some variables that affect a person's judgement, morality, and sense of social coherence are more negatively effected in the poorer areas, for example the rate of broken homes is much higher in poorer areas than it is in richer ones. As for the hip hop side of it, i find it disappointing and diturbing that it has become a rather orthodox method of portraying a hard image of one's self, prancing about the fact their father used to come home drunk or what not.
there is a difference between being proud of where your from, and bragging about commiting acts that not only corrupt and destroy the society, but sends out a message to the young impressionable minds that it's okay to for example kill or sell drugs.

When ideological distance is large, a "high-trust" regime prevails: Within some intermediate range, both equilibria coexist. We then study the optimal organization of influence activities, contrasting levels when interest groups act independently and when they coordinate. We identify the situations where they agree that coordination is best, or that non-coordination is best.

You are one funny mofafaka...

Rukas, I felt as if you were ashamed of your residence, yet at the same time proud. It depends on whom you talk to?

Who is "we"? I'm a hip hop fan, and I don't think moving on to better things means selling out. Although rap artists nowadays like to think so, I know I don't and I know many others don't tend to think so as well. Now, although I know the "Rep yo' hood" is in sort of a sarcastic tone, I would like to know how does somebody go about repping their hood.

I agree it's funny cuz I always thought ur supposed to move out of yo ''hood''...Nobody wants to live in a fucked up place...the plan is to move out and make sure ya family lives a happy life...Im only 17 but I know this cuz I have seen families come and go we came and we left too...
Now when I look back at my ''hood'' I can rep it...but I rep it cuz I am proud of where I came from.....It kinda made me who I am today..along with the things my parents have always taught me...I know it sounds hella corny..ya know...My neighbourhood made me who I am...LOL..We don't even have hoods we have shitty place that are shitty for Dutch ppl...They might be heaven for others...

A person who reps his hood is like..when ppl talk shit about it...like all those minorities in that part of the city blah blah<<<when u hear shit like that u start wildin and defendin ya ''hood'' and thats how u rep ur hood...Ur saying look @ me I moved away from that shit and Im succesfull...so what is ur problem?

Again the plan is to move out of that piece of shit and live ya life good...
