U-God has always been half decent, people just needed someone from the unity to make fun of and he was the perfect choice. I mean Masta Killa is dope but he talks more nonsense than Uyie half the time.

After I listened to this earlier I was gonna come on and make a thread askin what the fuck Rae was on. These beats he didnt like? You kidding me? Shit is tight.
 
I can honestly say i'm not impressed with the album. That's hard for me to say cause i've always been a huge Wu fan. I still am, but I was REALLY hoping for some dope Wu shit. I'm not saying it's a bunch of shit I can't listen to, but it's not really a good album. It's not really bad either.

That was my first impression as well. I think I need to let it grow on me though.
 
"rushing elephants", "stick me for my riches", "weak spot" and "tar pit". all of those songs sound like wu-tang/jedi mind tricks collaborations or something. the song "life changes" is mixed like an acoustic track almost. the piano is way too prominent. "weak spot" and "unpredictable" sound like they were made by swizz beats. the chorus on "starter" is very r&b-ish. rae said it sounded too orchestral right? maybe he used a different word but that's the message he tried to communicate.

i agree. for some of these beats i wonder why they picked those. "take it back" for example. the drums are cool, but that lead guitar sound sounds ugly as hell to me. they deliberately made it hit sort of "off beat" so as to create a funky effect, but it just sounds annoying. the melody is not nice, it is not "hot", it is not "dope", it is not innovative, it simply isn't catchy.

rhyme-wise the album sounds pretty good so far though. i'm just not very pleasantly surprised with the production.
 
I like the production more then the lyrics.... except for a couple verses of course. I think Rza doin the movies for a while has him thinking more musically why'll the Wu just go on and spit, at least that what it seems. I still like the album, but you always wish for more.
