Hey y'all, just wanna ask a quick question?

Would you disown someone (a friend) if they owed you a reasonably amount of money, and you've asked them time and time again with no luck or would you just leave it and wait and see if they ever give it back to you.

Your opinions appreciated...

i dont lend money to anyone, except my family members, gf and my best friend but if i would do it and he/she doesnt give it back to me, even though i asked/reminded him/her a couple of times, i would ignore him/her from this time on.

First things first, there's no coast in London.

On point, it depends how much it is and whether they can afford it. If they are going out spending money whilst owing you and you've repeatedly reminded them and they are giving you generic excuses i recommend you give them an ultimatum to pay the money back or lose you as a friend. If they still don't pay you back then fuck em cos they're clearly not an honourable person.

However, if they are clearly broke and struggling for money anyway and you're not in any great need for the money now then you should try and help them find out why they're strugglin and arrange a way he can pay you back.

All comes down to how much you trust that person to do the right thing by you.

Unless the reason for not paying me back is because he's broke, I'd do all I can to get my money back and then break all ties.

Greedy, are we?

Anyways, lil trigger, I don't think it depends on how much money it is. I'd rather have you acknowledge to your friend that you don't want a simple thing like money get in between your friendship, first. See where that leads.

It's money too but big part of it is respect.

Seen it first hand. This kid had enough money to buy beer and weed but couldn't pay me back the lousy $20 he owed me. There is a respect issue there in my opinion.

If he respected me, he would either pay me back or talk to me and work something out.

lol, money aint no "simple thing". if you dont have enough money you can get into trouble. you might know jockas thread where he said that someone owes him money and he doesnt give it back, even though jocka needs it badly. now hes into trouble...

like salty said, its about respect. if i dont feel like they respect me (and and probably dont get my money back) i wont lend them money, not even 5€.

i lend money to friends all the time, but all my friends r good for it. But if i new that the person had the money, and jus wasnt payin, id be pissed. I wudnt stop bein friends wit him, cuz then i wudnt get ne of my money back

Money compared to friendship is nothing. Yes, like salty said, it's about respect.

It's not about money, you greedy German. :)

It is a sign of hypocrisy to not pay your debts.
i agree
weather i would disown my friend or not would depend completely on the situation.

Here is my rule, never lend money to friends if you expect them to pay you back. When I give money to friends I do it never expecting them to pay me back. If they do hit me back then it is just an added little bonus.

I don't know about you, guys, but most of my friends work and have enough pride not to ask me, or each other, for money. I mean, I think I've borrowed money like twice in my lifetime from a friend, and that's because I didn't have enough money on me to buy something at the mall, etc. I still repaid them as soon as we got home. That doesn't mean I'm rich, it's just that If I don't have enough money for something that I want, I won't resort to asking a friend to buy it for me and then "I'll pay you back when I have money". It's not me. I do have like one friend that constantly asks me for money, but I don't borrow him because I know he doesn't have money to pay me back, and I've made the mistake of doing so a couple of times.

Friendship > Money.

If I had enough, I'd give my friends all they wanted without expecting it back. If borrowed and they couldnt afford to pay me back, I'd try and make it up myself somehow, working more or something. But like beReal said, I'd only give money to those very closest to me though.
