When you're on the same line as the defence, you are offside, according to FIFA's rules.

The advantage is given to the attacking player though.

They should change the rule back. Behind the last defender = offside. No BS about being "inactive" and whatnot. If you're on the pitch you're taking part in the play imo.

This new stupid rule only confuses and makes things complicated. But i've been annoyed at the footy organisations for years for the silly rules they keep coming up with.


Hizzle, the Wanchobe goal was indeed offside, but it wasnt called. It was a mistake (partly due to the stupid confusing rule)

If England continue to play like this they will be soon on their way to home. You can be the winner if you have only one World class striker which currently can't play. When (if) Rooney comes back England will play without tall striker since Crouch is almoust a disgrace.
Paraguay with Chilavert and without him is not the same team althoght they are experienced but still play instable. I expect from Santa Cruz & Valdez to show much more in the next two games.
Poland played like I knew they'll play - under expectations. You must thank Janas for that. Dudek & Frankowski are the best players of their team but they are not in Germany!?
Ecuador can be suprise. Their play is mature and they are very motivated but still calm. This is their 2nd tournament and 2nd in a row. Balanced midfield, strong defence and sharp forward. You can't ask for more.
Germany displayed some qualities but also some weakness. They must improve their defence if they want to leave a mark in their own country. Klose continues to progress on the list of the best World Cup goalscorers. I'm waiting for the Kahn's return, maybe in next game.
Costa Rica are not the strangers on this tournament. They come in Germany to play not to defend themselves and that is their gift and their curse. Although, they are not compact, nobody shouldn't write them off.
Sweden is a big dissappointment. They are overrated despite they have good player swhich are in terrible form. They must change something quick if they want to quilfy for the next round.
Trinidad & Tobago are the real example of 'one for all, all for one'. They are strong in defence and dangerous when they are in a counter attack. One thing is sure, every game in Germanty in which they'll play will be interesting to watch.
Argentina showed that they are mentaly strong. They perfomance wasn't too impressive. Obviosly, more than player's form and their big names, their real strenght is Peckerman.
Cote D'Ivory are deserved to play on this World Cup. If they maintain their high rhythm throughout whole match they can achieve succes. Their defence is the worst part of a team despite that players doing well in their clubs.
