^ Typical American reaction. Yeah, file a lawsuit, lose the lawsuit and lose your job as well. :thumb:
typical foreigner, thinking he knows everything.

an employer cannot fire you for filing a worker's compensation claim against his organization. the employer will in most cases be insured against punitive damages, and the compensation is drawn from state taxed funds. ...if an employer tried to fire you over an injury, you'd have a nice case and you would win.

look, if homeboy cut his hand because of unsafe work conditions, he's owed compensation. if he cut it because he's an idiot then that's on him.

btw, to the thread starter - do they not have stitches wherever the hell you live?

Couldn't be arsed to go and sit in A&E for 4-5 hours, I've got some first aid training myself so I put a pretty decent bandage on it and the bleeding has pretty much stopped, but if it don't stop completely or gets infected then i'll take myself down there, if only I had private medical care :(

It depends on who he works for. Second, most companies would do a drug test. I'm not sure if he smokes weed or does any other drugs, but one has to keep in mind, that it probably was his mistake in the first place. Plus, in my opinion it is stupid to sue your employer because somehow you got injured and cut yourself.

Also, it is a waste of time. And trust me, if you think he won't lose his job after that, then you are naive.

like i said, regardless of however it is wherever you are in the world, an employer cannot sue an employee for a work comp claim. it's illegal.

if the work environment was at fault, he should sue. i just took offense to your global assumption that americans are some sue-happy idiots. sorry, but if you believe everything pop media feeds you as an indication of how the country is run then you're sadly mistaken. if someone wrongs me, then hell yes i'm going to sue them. the alternative is to be a pushover, and sorry, but us yanks ain't that.

I didn't say the employer will sue; I said the employer may fire him.

Looking at the picture, it doesn't seem life threatening. However, if the I agree the work enviroment should be safe.

It's a well known fact that America is a litigious society. Everyone exploit these laws that aim to protect the people resulting in mistrust in people.

By the way, I live in America. I didn't assume. I know it happens. Remember the dumb lady who spilled her coffee on herself and burned herself then sued the coffee company?

Of course we all remember that, it was a big deal because that doesn't usually happen. So just because that woman happens to be an American, all Americans sue people for dumb reasons. Great one neutron.
