i'm not very familiar with wireless internet, all that hotspot stuff etc. could you explain me more about it, how does it work, do i need to configure it to work. i got notebook with wi-fi. i got cable internet but would like to try wirelees where it is possible or like i heard it is possible to use other people wireless internet. waiting for more info.

If you want to try wireless I would suggest using a Linksys Router specifically a Lynksys wireless access point router with a 4-port switch. It is 2.4 GHz and its 802.11b. So it's cheap because it is b but it will still work no matter what. I use it for my wireless laptop and my brother use's it for wireless as well. Once you have the Lynksys set up all you need to remember is "192.168.1.1" That is the address to your stats and options to configure your cable modem.

As for hot spots you can either open up control panels and click on wireless something I forgot off my top of my head but I would recommend an application called netstumbler at: http://www.netstumbler.com/downloads/
Yes you can see if other people have wireless connections but that does not mean you can use it. Some people have them close meaning you can access while most have them open for anyone to use. I have it open myself but there aint no computer know it all's here in East LA. We just worry about staying alive. ha ha ha ha staying alive staying alive ha ha ha ha staying aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllliiiiiiiiiiiiiive. yeah

i got wireless. dont go for xxxxxxb go for g....much faster and backwards compatible.

i don't want to use wireles net all the time, this is only for trying how does it work, where does it work etc. something like driving in a car around blocks and finding free wireless net..
that's what i'm intersted in ;) do i need something to configure for it, or my comp would go online automatically and spot that wireless connection.
