Technology windows xp to replace vista

I got a problem....
My vista is a pirated copy and is now asking for "activation",it's kinda annoying...
i want to reinstall windows XP(not a pirated one) on it but how do i unistall vista and install windows XP to replace it without losing all i got on my harddrive?

install it to a different partition. what you got on your hands is a bitch though. you can make a new partition, make that partition the primary one, and turn the vista partition into a normal storage partition. then re-install xp, boot into xp, copy the needed files, and format the partition that had vista on it.

btw you'll need something like a partitionmagic boot disk for this. it's been AGES since i did this shit so i don't really remember, but what i put above is what i know should work.

and what would happen if i keep vista and i just always click on "activate later" when it asks me (because it asks me this everytime i strart my computer)?
would i always be able to use it?

because i make music in it and i doubt "copy-and-paste" would install properly my vst's in windows XP,plus i've just reinstalled all because the mother-board of my old one fucked up so this one is a new computer(bought it pieces separately)...

Get an external hd... it's the best for backup. I just bought one this week online.

If you do nothing about it, nothing will happen. They can't legally lock you out of your computer. It's there as a nuisance.

Get your shit backed up somewhere else, not on a partition on your comp. That way is too complicated, like Preach said. I would say invest in an external hard drive, 500GB comes for under $100 these days, and just put all your files on there. You can still install a bootleg version of Windows and here's where your problem comes from.

The reason that message pops up is because you installed Windows Genuine Advantage from Windows Update. What you do, then, is install whatever version of Windows you want. If it's pirated, turn auto updates OFF. Then, check for updates manually, and deselect the one that says WGA or anything like that on it. You can probably even hide it. Just never download it, or else that's how they get you.

Might have changed recently, but I went about six months dealing with the nuisance before I just reinstalled Windows and didn't download WGA. If they force you to download the WGA, then I know that there are third-party patches that you download and save you again.

i downloaded a progam to activate it again "ngc" but it didn't work,have you got one for me? it's a vista ultimate
