why not re-releasing cd-singles ?

i can't understand why amaru/jive do not re-release pre death row cd-singles.

a lot of hip hop labels do indeed re-release old cd-singles and they do good (def jam for example).

if they would they would make a lot of money with little work!

just recently i discovered an "idiot" who purchased the "i get around" cd-single for 116 euros (!) through ebay.
i'm not dissin that specific guy, cause i was that type of fool too a few years ago and i know it's rare, but damn it's just a single!

singles would be good ... then collectors can still collect promos

my thought is that was a pretty fucking ignorant thing to say...

firstly, you shouldn't be so concerned about how someone else spends their money. being that ebay is an auction site, that means a minimum of one other person thought the cd was that valuable.

singles from death row era and earlier commonly feature tracks that were never released elsewhere, and additionally sincles are produced in vastly more limited quantities than albums. for the people who care about quality and comprehensiveness, singles are a must.

what i find comical is that people bitch and moan about the fair market value of singles, yet their mp3 folder is chocked full of single mixes (usually labeled as og or unreleased versions). listen, you can't have it both ways. either be happy with your sub-par reencoded mp3s or put up the money and/or legwork to find the singles the songs were released on. calling someone an "idiot" for buying something that obviously has some sort of meaning to them makes you look like the fool.

there's a greater chance of single tracks being re-released on another rusd type album over straight up re-releasing. the posters on this board don't represent the overall market, and despite the demand here, in real life rereleases of 12 year old lp radio edits and such would be a flop.

think 90s rock though, what about releasing a singles boxset alot of popular groups have done it, im not sure about rappers though. but the singles in the box set had different cat #'s and a few other minor differences. an odds and sods comp. would be nice also like RUSD, i already suggested that.

thew problem would be that the only good singles (meaning ones with b-sides or remixes) essentially ended with how do u want it.

i would like to see a box set with all the singles rereleased ,they can put reprint on the cover or make them different somehow so the collectors still have something to buy ,but i really really doubt this

i said clearly in my post, that i'm not dissing that person, who bought the cd for 116 euros.in fact i don't care! he can buy it for 1000 bucks if he wants to.it's up to him.who am i to worry about someone else's way to spend his money...
what i wanted to say is that the urgency/desire (however u wanna call it) for pre-death row cd-singles is quite evident.
take a look at ebay,nearly every pre-death row cd-singles goes for 40 $ minimum (older ones even much more).some people take advantage of that (i ain't sayin no names).
it would be very easy to for amaru, jive, interscope to rerelease old cd-singles in an limited edition (single boxes,etc).there would be enough buyers...at least more than the recent pac cd-singles.

Re-Release them singles would be aiight but the old ones would still getting sold for that high cause... yea you know why.
