Why does SH keep lasting?

If I compare the trends here with other boards, I find our community to be a little "weird". Pretty much the same people over and over. And it has been like this for so long now.

History tells us minorities never last. Eccentric, smaller tribes die out, animals in smaller groups are extinct, 2Pac forums online in particular never seem to last except a few.

StreetHop always maintained more or less frequent activity. It puzzles me. Why do you think it is? Perfect harmony among members? We're all hung up on something? Maybe because we really feel for each other? :)
 
Btw I have my own theory. Basically, coincidentally I think a lot of smart people ended up going here. If you look at other forums, there are people of very different calibers. The idiots, the goofs, the smart people, the obsessive people. Everyone here seems to dance the line in life. There is no one here that is excessively stupid, with a few un-named exceptions of course, but there's a lot of really smart people here. Smart in different ways, many of which I disagree with, but all the while intelligible.

Plus we never let the n00bs have a say and always treat them like shit, or have. We've all been n00bs, shit, even SicC used to get banned and had an e-lationship or something I think I heard, he's admin now. My first post ever on this board was a shout to Paladin cause I thought he was such a straight up real fan of Pac's that I commended him in broken english. Luckily the old archives are gone. I called myself "don_makavelio86", "makavelio" because "makaveli" was taken of course. Anyone remember SiGh and dabid's constant freeposting? No one here gives a fuck about taking a young n00b off the online stream and turn him into a Bobby Sands or a Tha_Wood anymore. A shame, really :(
 
Honestly and this is probably bad, but I really don't pay attention to new posters. I'll see a screen name that I don't recognize with few posts and I just really forget them after I read whatever they wrote. I just started to notice Bobby and Wood recently. Hehehe. I"m terrible, I know. Bobby's a great kid though. P.S. I would still like my missing posts back please. I should have like 8K now or something.

She calls everyone a kid. OMG why do you put a period after the question mark? Its not the first time, it bothers me so much :(

And also when you don't space after you finish a sentence.Like this you know. OMG.

I heard he got banned for a week when he posted bottleguy in a hidden link and Rukas clicked it. LOL that shit was hilarious! But shh...don't remind Rukas, he'll ban him again.

Remember when Meyer Lansky got banned for a day for post a naked girl? I wish that would happen again. :(

Why SH keeps lasting? I dont know...i dont really know why i keep coming here. There is barely someone i like....i should leave.

A lot of people where i live call each other "kid" as well. They could be talking to a 40 year old and still call him kid.

The reason i put in a period as you call it, is because i had to have at least 5 characters in my post so i just put in a full stop. I normally leave a space after a full stop but sometimes when i type quicker, i dont bother. I do have a habit of putting an extra full stop there but its not intentional.

I've been a member for nearly five years now. I remember joining Hitemup.com solely for the opportunity to talk with people about Tupac because I'm such a huge fan. I would mostly go and read the threads in the Life section with interest but only post if I really had a need to voice an opinion on an issue or if I thought I could offer some insight. Then, as we all know, Hitemup went down the shithole and became streethop.com and, after some time, I became interested in the other areas of the forum. However, I never had much time because I was going to college full time and working so many hours. I was never a well known member in the forum. In the last couple months, I've become very active....posting daily and getting to know the regulars around the site. To say the least, I'm having a great time.

I think this board has lasted like it has because you're right, there are very few, if any real morons here. It's like a close-knit community and I enjoy the people. Yes, people have different opinions on things but that's what keeps the blood flowing. Without discussions and differences in opinions, this board would be obsolete. I think that the reason we have so many insightful and intelligent people here is because the staff is effective and doesn't condone idiots posting inflammatory comments without some kind of point or substance. Yes, new members trickle in, which is fantastic. And yes, most of them post once in a blue moon or never return but you occasionally get a Bobby Sands and Tha Wood who turn out to be very effective members.

I've learned a lot about a lot of members in a short time and I hope that people here are getting to know me and recognize me as a member who loves hip-hop and wants to contribute and be a positive influence. Sometimes I feel like I'm not very big compared to other members because I don't have a large post count and I'm not known by a lot of people. But that's understandable seeing how I've only been "active" a couple months and that should hopefully soon change.:thumb:
