this must have been said around one of your big quotes back from the A.D era :)

"Little Miss Bitch" is not my username. I'm sure it is not beyond you to type out a name properly.

And that's good, comfort yourself with that little fable.

"big quotes".....yes, because I've been using them throughout this thread.

I was confident you would not say you were "impressed" so I added in the idea of you taking exception to my writing style also. And you can put it to me like that all you want, but it was you not I who highlighted my writing style which, up until that point, had appeared perfectly normal to me.

My dismissing of Tupac as a philosopher & poet, has no effect on my opinion of him as a rap artist. Only I can accurately say what's on my mind, so it might be best if you stop making assumptions.

And no, my "strategy" is employed simple to make sure I answer everyone fully. My conviction is strong enough to do so, I see that yours may not be.

A wizard? I really can't comment on this because I've never perused the works of a wizard.

Yes I am, just as you are entitled to your opinion.

This situation is not about "winning".

A sentence ago I was entitled to my opinion now I'm being told not to speak my mind. That's nice.

First of all you seem to not understand. When I speak on Tupac the artists, you seem to imply that I'm talking of the musician. Well, no professor. What I mean is the poet, rapper, activists, leader, philosopher, etc. If you dismiss any of those claims as him being a poet and philosopher, then you are dismissing part of his artistry as well.

Second of all just because I'm not breaking up every piece of reply to give a direct answer to doesn't make or mean my conviction is any less than yours. I have not taken the time to learn how to have a quote under every part of a reply that I want quoted, but thats another story. You are entitled to your opinion, but as long as you continue to insult the work of the man of this board then you will continue to face replies and more unhappy campers.

I'm sure if Pac was a well educated overseas student from Britain that traveled to the U.S. to come to Princeton; scholars would probably have a different view causing you to have a different view. And yeah, I'll keep making assumptions.

Oh yeah, Just for the record incase you don't know rappers are the biggest poets of our time. If you put Pac's rhymes into consideration along with his actual poetry then none of those "philosophers" have anything on him or any rapper from this generation.

That's why for clarification I use "rap" as a prefix, so as to make it clear that I'm not undermining his abilities as "rap artist" but other aspects of his "artistry".

Although never once did I dismiss the "claim" - it isn't really a claim it's a fact - that the man was no a poet or philosopher.

Show me where I "insulted" Tupac's work. I gave my humble opinion of it & never used any malice.

You're "sure" of quite a bit aren't you?

And yet, despite this certainty, you continue to fail to hit the nail on the had.

Why do you use the same argument when I've already told you the truth of the matter? And incase you missed it first time, here it is repeated:

I accept works based on their merit & however I see fit. I'm not the one who tried to imply Tupac was some great philisopher & in order to rebut such claims I pointed out that he is not among those respected worldwide. I do respect the opinions of particular scholars who have particularly impressed me in the past but that does not absolve me of free thought. So in short, your "guess" is wrong.

Vixen or Coochie: LISTEN UP. You don't need any big time scholar to pronounce Tupac as a poet or philosopher. You can have your own mind and recognize his work now. You don't need anyone to tell you anything before you recognize and approve of his non-musical work as true poetry and philosophy. That is the main point you are on as you aren't saying much. It'll be too late b4 you recognize him probably. In a 100 yrs. or so 2Pac will be studied in classrooms as a poet & philosopher. You can put money on that claim. Pac is a modern day hero for society-WHY WOULDN'T HIS NON MUSICAL EFFORTS AND OR WORK GO DOWN IN HISTORY!!

I know I don't, hence my refusal of such an idea twice before.

Again, read what I've already said. I never said his "non-musical work" was "false poetry". So your point is? Ahh, nothing again.

Hituup said:

No, it isn't. If you can understand English it should be clearly visible what my stance is & that what others think plays a minor role here. It is you who is not "saying much", given that you keep clinging to this same point which I've shed light on several times now.

He's already studied in "classrooms", so you're hardly making a daring prediction. But if you mean he will be studied in all classrooms, then perhaps you would like to elaborate, addressing aspects such as if you think it would be a domestic affair or a worldwide phenomenon.

Hituup said:

For society? Your evidence to back up such a claim? Remember society encompasses more than a messageboard & more than just his dedicated fans. If you wish to claim he is a hero "for society" in general - in the mould of a Martin Luther King or Gandhi - then please, bring evidence.

Why wouldn't they? Because they are sub-par.

OK so now I've got two attacks. Go ahead and form truce with the Vixen Male. What I wanted to interpret is that he is the one who is looked up to the most by today's up and coming generation and will probably go down in history books as leaving a mark on a generation. Due to this, it is very possible he can be studied in elementary schools and possibly have public schools named after him.

Hey CalcuchioVixe,-O YEAH SHUTUP NOW!!

You said you didn't regard him as a real poet or philosopher. So you go back and try to explain yourself? You didn't even answer some of my questions that I posted on here a few pages ago. Go ahead and read up. Its in the quote box.

Nope, never studied them in school. We're off to a good start, eh Sherlock?

Wrong again!

I can make music, act, be an activist & write poetry......why would I not be in the same bracket as Tupac? Because I'm not as good at it as him? Well, there's the same reason why Tupac isn't touching world renouned philosophers.

Oh, & "actual poet". Read some Seamus Heaney or something man, Tupac was a poor poet.

And this proves what? A minute ago you were lambasting me for only recognizing certain individuals because you assumed I'd studied them in school, now you're reasoning because you & others have studied something of Tupac's in school that that should be particularly important? Nice double standard you got there. :thumb:

I don't remember hailing anyone as "great".

And these people you refer to, none of them made an instant impact, eh? Mmm, nice genralization but, sadly, it's bullshit.

And even those who weren't recognized in their lifetime, does that make their achievements any less? That alone would make Tupac's achievements considerably less since a lot of people - hell, most of this board - only recognized him after he was dead.

He was a poor poet in YOUR eyes. But in all honesty. Your opinions suck, and it's always the same stuff, over and over. You don't like him all that much, fair play, its your opinion. But don't come on here and think you know what's what. Its like, in my eyes. I think you are a clown.

And as for fans recognising him after his death. The man sold 6 million records, when rap wasn't even huge, like it is now, accross other countries. How many rappers a year, die? How many get heard after there death? Hardly any. You just pick at everything, then you twist shit and put it in your OWN words. For a man who has inspired most of the rappers out there right now, basically means that your opinion means nothing, and as for your, "intelligence" on this matter. I see no intelligence at all from you. You are just a hater to the fans, and to everyone who supports and likes Tupac's work. Quit down talking the fans with your "amazing" opinions and go else where if you do not like it. You always have to somehow degrade these fans. And don't say, "oh its my opinion, etc", because you never really say anything great on here. You might aswell stick to the Streethop part and stay there.

Again, you resort to name-calling.

And no, you are making claims without evidence. Perhaps you should be more clear about where this "generation" is from because I can name you plenty of places where he is not "the one who is looked up to most" by the "up and coming generation".

No-one claimed he wouldn't & hasn't left a mark.

Similarly, no-one dismissed the possibilities that you state here.

Yes, he's a poor poet in my eyes & my judgement is made using a simple criteria, one which is by no means the be all & end all but one which allows me to conclude that Tupac didn't produce great poetry.

My opinions suck? A foolish thing to say.

I don't like him? Tupac? Here you go again. I have actually explained my stance to you before & will not veer off topic here by going into it. And if you actually understood what I have said in this thread, there is every indication that I have no problem with Tupac whatsoever.

Why not come on here & voice my opinion? You are no position to tell me what I can or cannot do.

Why bring up a point which I've already addressed & has been buried for a minute now?

When I made a brief mention of the number of posthumous fans Tupac garnered, it was in response to another poster dismisses the works of certain philosophers because their work wasn't fully recognized until after their death.

And again, I haven't downplayed any of Tupac's work as a rap artist in this thread so you should really stop acting like I did.

As for my "intelligence"? What are you talking about? Like I said before to the other guy, I'm not the one who keeps bringing up my intellect. Why do you do this when it is irrelevant to the thread?

Bullshit.

I stated earlier that I hate Tupac's fans. When I say this I am talking about fans like yourself - irrational, blinkered & incomprehensable at times.

I don't hate every fan & I certainly don't hate "everyone who supports and likes Tupac's work".

Once again, just like the other guys in this thread, you take exception to me. I never said anything about how my opinions were "amazing" but it is obviously on your mind.

"degrade these fans"? On the contrary, I keep my posts amicable. It is you & others who try to degrade me with petty name-calling &/or lying.

I never really say anything "great", eh? I was not aware there was a prerequisite to post. To be honest, I've never saw anyone post anything "great". But need I remind you that you are not the gatekeeper ? You have no power over what I say or do on this messageboard so stop making your little demands.

2pac got shot, went to jail, came back did a few albums, talked alot of shit, got shot and killed. i dont see what he did to change history like some fools are saying. i dont see how he can be compared to a malcolm x or a martin luther king, thats a bunch of nonesense. he was just a rapper. if any rapper did anything for society, it was eazy e,he brought rap to a whole nother level, then everyone just began feeding off that level.sure 2pac is a legend because he died at the top of his game. same with biggie. im sure if they didnt die they would have eventually fell off. everyone falls off at some point, unless they retire at the top of their game. i mean look at snoop.

Have you given up to Calcuchio or something. Is this a case of can't beat em join em. The man never changed history but he has impacted and influenced plenty from this generation and up and coming ones. He was a man on a mission with goals that ended up getting his life shortened in a tragedy. Just because the man was shot and went to jail doesn't mean he's not suited to impact society. I mean no one has to have a squeaky clean positive image to impact. In fact, it was the situations you always seen him involved in that made him look a certain way, but you knew he wanted to better the world from his musics and interviews, which made him significant.

Calcuchio-GO AHEAD AND LOOK AT SOME OF MY OTHER POSTS AND FIND THE QUESTION THAT YOU NEVER ANSWERED. YOU SEEM TO HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO DO!!
