Wrong. "Gangsters" are people involved in organized crime - they need not be one of the traditional mobs. That said, a dictionary will probably tell you it's anybody involved in a gang

For me, the biggest gangster of all time is Pablo Escobar. I look up to him at times. Cool guy? There's no doubt its Mike Jackson for me. Regardless of his appearance, he's as cool as it gets for me. Love for him will never die...doesn't matter how much hate he gets. Yeah, at times, I wish he's change some of his ways, but the love never dies.
