Ever since I started writing for Street Hop, a couple of sites get on my nerves. Sohh.com, allhiphop.com, and others. The problem: they report on things so quick, its not even funny. It is as if these people have no lifes, no school, and no work.

How can Street Hop beat these people? Don't get me wrong, I am not someone like Rukas who does everything Street Hop related, but it would be nice to see Street Hop crushing the competition.

I was just about to write something for SH, but it turns out Sohh.com already reported on it. I don't like writing stuff that everyone has already done.

I am waiting for the days Street Hop will become the Wal-Mart of the Hip Hop industry.

You mean a place filled with rednecks. A place so concerned with filling every possible space with merchandise that there's hardly any space to walk through. You will always find long lines at the register. All the CDs are edited. Nobody is at the sporting goods counter. Unusually busy on the first Wednesday of the month. Mods wear blue vests and Admins wear red vests. Kills the near by Frank's Nursery and Hank's Hardware?

OK, when a Wal-Mart store is blown up we'll know who did it.

Anyways, Pennypacker, your dilemma is one that won't be remedied anytime soon.

AllHipHop.com seem to have an unlimited contact network, hence why they get shit so quickly.

I think SOHH.com are pretty much the same.

It's all about the contacts.

Wal-Mart is a bad thing for the Country so I hope it never dose! lol

Wal Mart is the second highest employer in the US after the government (maybe the third if GM took back the #2 spot), I don't see that as a bad thing but I know what you mean, they kill off the mom and pop stores who just can't compete with the business, Wal Mart buys everything in bulk and sells them at rock bottom prices, that's why Wal Mart never has any sales, their prices are already at discount price (and they still make a killing).

AllHipHop.com is a full time job, they have full time staff, it is there job to be there, they have wages and shit.

And yes, that is the road we are headed towards as well.

Yeah, I had kind of meant to - but completely forgotten to - mention the professionalism of AllHipHop.com.

And salty, Wal-Mart is a bad thing. So it employs many people, so what?

Another company/companies could just as easily do that if there wasn't a close link between government & (current) big business.

Wal-Mart's monopoly gives it undeserved power & - as we all know - power can & will be abused.

it is like a Mixed blessing you are right, but I think in the long run it is negative. Take me for example I was working at a Grocery Store and I got pissed and I quit without realizeing how shity the economy here really is. so now I am stuck in this Wal-mart job that is paying me $2-3 an hour less then what a Grocery Store would for doing the exact same job in easyer conditions more then likely.

it's sorta like Robbing Peater to pay paul! lol

How do you feel about people not having the jobs that Wal Mart provides? Not to mentions the millions of dollars they raise for charity and the money they give away for scholarships.

that's the economy, not Wal Mart. I worked there from 1999 to 2001 and in the two years, I was given a total of $1.25 raise, I was getting paid more than any of my friends at that time (they worked at various places like Pet Shops, Fast food joints and other retail stores.) The palce was very flexible and the people were nice, that's hard to find I realized after I left there.

I suppose everybody has their own opinions about the place.

1) like dude said other places could provide those jobs. just because someone is giving you money don't mean you can let them act like an Ass!

2) They don't really have a very good Scholarship program, many companys I have worked for in the past had much much better.

3) The Raiseing money for Charity thing can never be bad, yet how Wal-Mart dose it is a major beef with me.

They ask employees to contribute to Charity all the damn time wich there is nothing wrong with that at all, but for someone that thinks things out and questions Authority I got to thinking.
all the employees donate money and then Wal-Mart gives that to Charity I am sure in there name, so basicaly I am paying for there Tax Break! they never say "We will MATCH the money raised" so I wonder if they pony up any of there own money ever!

Jobs would be provided with better conditions I must say, if competition was in place - which would be the case if Wal-Mart's monopoly was taken out of the equation.

You do know that all the big business companies use the excuse of employment to get tax breaks left, right & centre? It is a weak excuse, but the government are weaker still.

Charity & scholarships? If that's all it takes to legitimize raping an industry & people nationwide, then that's pretty fucked up.

And as the young wizard has made clear, a lot of this cash ain't even theirs!

Edit: Just thought I'd mention that the mighty AllHipHop.com has a fuck up in their Features section where they have put links which should have been in the Flicks section. Sad but true.....

it is not all evil, yes many of the people are nice Managers on down, and yeah They are flexible and very understanding for New or expecting mothers and such.

Part of my hate comes from my Anti-Capitalism stand point, part comes from my hate of Retail work. so that is my problem not so much theres.

And like you said it is The Economy not Wal-Mart, by and large they play by the rules(they get some special treatment however) so they just playing the game.

yet I feel one must look at the whole Scope of things and I feel many of the things Wal-Mart dose is not best for the majority simular to outsourceing of job's wich Wal-Mart indirectly suports by seeking and buying the cheepest goods that majority of the time come from outside the USA.

That explains it.

It's all about the contacts.

I actually thought of calling a record company to ask some stuff for news, but they'll probably ask "uhmm, who are you with?"

Wal-Mart is a bad thing for the Country so I hope it never dose! lol

Gucci, Macy's, and other name brands are bad for "the country." Wal-Mart is the people's store. Its cheap and convenient. What more can you ask for?

Check out www.walmartfacts.com.

I don't get paid by Rukah but I still give Street Hop as much professionalism as possible. Their website layout sucks.

You guys have Wal-Mart over there also? Interesting.

cool, where do i apply?

There was a thread that was asking for people a while ago. I think you can still email Rukah to ask for a spot.

Sorry to divert your topic Cosmo! lol

Cosmo Kramer = H.E. Pennypacker, wealthy industrialist. I didn't know you watched Seinfeld.

Nah, I wasn't doubting that Street Hop's workers were professional, but I think AllHipHop's staff will work to a higher standard - seeing as they are getting paid & all.

We don't have Wal-Mart itself, but we have Asda - which Wal-Mart bought a couple of years back. And while Asda is not run like Wal-Mart - seeing as it has heavy competitors - I know some stuff about Wal-Mart due to reading about it & the American economoy as a whole.

And yeah Rock, he is the young wizard......& you forgot to fart.

AllHipHop.com = BET employees. Theres your answer right there.

We got an exciting new partner joining the staff that is going to even out the playing field but shhhh I cant tell you who it is ;)
