anyone? I didn't even know they had a team until yesterday, I was getting ready for school and watching SportsCenter, and they started talking about the "Washington Nationals". When did this shit happen!?

the attendence is still better than the 5000 per game they drew in Montreal

i went to a game up there once, in the cool ass dome, and more seats were empty than full

great place to watch a game though, Montreal has alot of hot chicks :thumb:

ok, so if some rich guy come buys your team, sells the land for the NEW STADIUM that was purchased, trades your key players, and fires the most popular coach in team history, then sells the team to mlb im sure your whole city would be running to the games too

mlb bought the team to run it to the ground not to help it out which it should of done

and this attendance bullshit that americans like to use all the time is utter bullshit, for your information the montreal expos were the first team to draw 2 million people in a season

every team goes through periods were the attendance is bad, atlanta, cleveland, detroit, etc

bud selig had a personal vendetta against montreal and he used his power to get back, since montreal was awarded a expansion team instead of milwauke in '68

when the heck was attendance going to pick up? the majority of people in Montreal do not like baseball at all. just a few years ago they were competing and attendance was still down.

i remember 2 years ago i made the 4 or 5 hour drive up to Montreal to see them play the Red Sox. The attendance went from 5,000 on Friday (don't remember who they played) to 20,000+ on the Sunday i went, clearly with the Red Sox fans outnumbering Montreal fans.

That's the only thing i'll miss about Montreal: it being fairly close to where I live. Other than that, thank goodness. Those players did not like playing in Montreal. I for one hated watching a game in that place, it just felt so dull and boring, nothing exciting to keep the fans into it between innings. Now the team's somewhere where the fans will care about them and the organization will make money.

when was the attendance in atlanta or cleveland going to pick up, or detroit or even yankee staduim, teams go through cycles its not unheard, attendance has only been bad for about 6 years, the expos have existed since 1969 incase you didnt know

yea thats exactly why the MONTREAL EXPOS were the first major league baseball team to achieve 2 million in annual attendance, and the expos havent competed since 99 (what coincedence the year loria bought the team), minus 2003's wild card run, check attendance records of years when they were seriously competing, check the attendance during the great teams of the late 70's and 80's, check from 93,94,96

yea thats why Pedro and OC dedicated the WS to Montreal, and Vlad his MVP to Montreal  and thats why numerous players all loved playing in montreal

So did everybody else, the staduim wasn't built for baseball in mind, it was built for the olympics, if loria hadnt swindled the city of montreal we would have the new ballpark and things would be different. Nothing between innings, yea, 4 or 5 years ago, in those years there have been two owners loria and mlb, if you wanted to destroy a franchise would you spend extra money to help entertain fans

Yea thats exactly why Washington has lost two franchises already

the expos just didnt start to exist in 98, you dont last 36 years on 5000 people a game

The only reason why the Expos moved is because we got fucked during the 1994 Strike, when the Expos was the best Team in all MLB, and mr.commish Bud Selig cancelled the season. If the season would have continued, they would have done the playoffs and possibly won the World Series. The Expos would still be in Montreal in a new beautiful Stadium Downtown Montreal. You cannot imagine how we got fucked here after 1994. We had to give out all our superstars because of a Low-Budget. And people saying Montreal is not a Baseball City are Totaly Wrong. In 1994, there was an average 30 000 people per game. People from Montreal cannot accept a losing team. That's why there was so few people coming to see the games in the last few years.

I agree the only reason the Expos left is because of that damn strike. It ruined everything for the expos. All because of that fag Bud Selig.

the Nationals have problems because the soccer team that is lending their stadium for them is complaining that the the baseball field is ruining their soccer field
