when did AFENI SHAKUR call herself AFENI??

Hello people,
somebody need to help me out on this one.

I'm curious about when exactly Afeni started calling herself "Afeni Shakur" cause from what I know she was married to some Lumumba Shakur while she had her Panters 21 trial, but he divorced her later.
Is it true that she started calling herself "Afeni Shakur" when she started calling Pac "Tupac Shakur" instead of Lasane Parish?
Or did she start even earlier.
Cause she was born Alice Faye, not Afeni.
So while she was active in the Panther movement, was she known as Afeni Shakur or was she still known as Alice Faye??

I'm pretty sure she changed her name to Afeni while she was in the Black Panthers, but not 100% sure. I know she changed Pac's name to Tupac Amaru Shakur about a month after he was born

I remember reading in her book that she changed her name before joining the Panthers. But it was a time when she started to go to political rallies and 'be' with the hippies and such things (must have been in the mid-sixties).
Afeni means 'dear one' and 'lover of people'.

It's actually written by Jasmine Guy but you can say it's Afeni's story. It's called Evolution of a Revolutionary and it's pretty interesting

I saw that book at a bookstore here, I've been meaning to pick it up. Does she talk about Tupac at all in the book?

I reccomend it, it talks about Pac but the book isnt based on Tupac obviously. It takes a look at her entire life. Anyway I beleive she changed it before the Panthers but she was involved with them. I should flick through the book but it'd take to long.
