This is such a tough question, as all decades have great music. But my personal favorite decade is the 80's. All my favorite musical styles came to prominence in the 80's, including metal, hiphop, new wave, and of course my favorite genre, electro-funk.

I find that the majority of my favorite artists were at their peak or at least very popular in the 80's as well, like Prince, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Zapp & Roger, Cameo, Sepultura, The Time, Mazarati.

So, what's your favorite decade?

That's a hard one. I'd say mid 80;s to mid 90's (85-95) Where the 80's was pumping, rock revolutionised, grunge scene was raw and hiphop was getting started in the main stream.

Mind you, i love the 60's toO.
stop asking hard questions

86-96 i was only around for about half of it though but my favorite music, pop culture, trends and movies are from this period. so i wish i was a bit older.

Metallica, 2pac, and nirvana all at once as well as other very good hip hop and grunge music and 80s pop.

Very good question.

I'd say, though hard to believe, that I'm finding the past 10 years to be my favorite. I'm heavy into punk, rock, altern-rock, soft-rock etc.

While todays artists aren't the greatest nor really legends at all, they do bring something different to the music scene these days.

Mars Volta, Bloc Party, Damien Rice, Moneen, Broken Social Scene, Bjork, Coldplay, Dredg, Hot Hot Heat, My Morning Jacket to name a few.

I'm still a huge fan of past decades, but I find myself more indulged in todays music and ever changing trends.

Ghost & Salar, I agree with you. My favorite era of music starts in 1980 and ends in 1996. But we're only saying one, and I picked 80's which is why I didn't mention Nirvana (although I guess I could of since Bleach was released in the 80's)

bleach was only really popular among people in the area and college kids though. i cant pick between 80s and 90s so i go with 86 to 96 lol.

60's and 70's. The greatest rock music and well just greatest music in general came from these two decades.
Yeah my pick would be 60s or 70s, probably late 60s rock stands out to me as the greatest... I would have loved to have seen the Doors perform.

I like music but had I been around in the late 60s, I can imagine I would have been living and breathing it.

i would have to say 80's, or if i can cheat like the others mid80's to mid 90's...my favorite band of all time was/is guns n' roses, and i also love metallica and tesla was great too and they all kind of fell into that era, and then to finish in the mid 90's with nirvana, pearl jam and soundgarden not to mention alice in chains and many others, that was just a great period for music itself
