Why is everyone always asking for drum kits as opposed to drum samples period? i'm betting anyone in here $528957047275894 that i can dig up twice the amount of drum samples you get in your kits from my drum samples archive and they would all sound 4x nicer than your dre/neptunes/whoever kit.

1) www.google.com.
2) search for "free wav samples."
3) check out every returned website on pages one through three.
4) repeat, but instead, change your keyword(s) to "free one-hit samples", "free samples and loops", and so forth, and check out any hit on pages 1-3 that didn't show up in your previous searches.
5) pwn.

creating your own sample archive gives you the privilege of being able to say that you're more creative than whoever uses dre drum kits (:p), you get a much nicer and much more varied sound, and you get all the ladies!!

take rizzle's advice. be special.

LOL @ step 5... and yea those drum kits are garbage, all they are are samples yanked off of actual songs... but actually I have a shitload of samples that I took off of Pac songs myself, you could try that too. :)

Yeah most kit samples usually sound like ass. They make up the majority of what I have in my sample collection right now though, because thats all I could get my hands on at the time...good lookin on the search criteria though, Ill try it out.

bitch

Well, on FL, they don't have many kicks/snares/hihats to use. I'm running out of drums to use because I don't wanna re use tha same one over and over. Drum kits are good because then you will have more kicks/snares/hihats :). Drum samples are gay. I would rather make my own pattern any day.

yeah. common misconception though, that a drum sample is a loop. i used to think so too, until king dizzy lectured me. it's okay ;) i'm talking about one-hit samples, like those in your redrum refills.

drum kits are normally made up of a bunch of drums that are either cut out of songs, or drums that sound like drums used by great producers. you have like ten to fifteen kicks, snares, cymbals, percussive instruments. when i looked for samples on the net, drum samples, i found a couple of GREAT sites. i don't have the urls, unfortunately, but some of the free ones are pretty damn cool, considering they're free. if you want really good samples you're probably gonna have to invest, but not neccesarily. i haven't ever once bought a sample cd. i'm gonna have to start though, and i will, but you can get pretty far with free samples.

oh, yeah, and im one of those blokes who also likes to create my own drum patterns, i've never used loops unless i chopped, but it's way simpler to just use one-hit samples ;p for all i care, dr. rex could burn and die.
