carmi, are you saying that studying psychology isnt going to get you very far for your career? :S

yes when I know that I will never be accepted for a Masters with my current grades and that a BA in Psychology won't land any job. I know this because I know people who have ended up with a BA, weren't accepted for a Masters despite their brilliant grades and ended up nowhere.

So yeah. My new career is being a counselor. It always was my backup plan. Now trying to put it in motion.

It's all about luck. It's also hard to predict the future.
For example business coures got so popular lately that I know unemployed people with MBA (or working as low-level managers in shitty companies).
Also in IT the competition is so big that you really have to be great to achieve something (chances of being unemployed are way lower there though but so many people studying IT mean much worse perspectives).
It's all good until you're doing what you really enjoy and you're good at it.

in all seriousness I'm glad to hear that you're doing some serious studying to get a great career. I am jealous because I just realized the program I am isn't doing shit for me and the program I want to transfer in is making it hard for nothing to get in.

I know a physiologist who worked in Nunavut and was paid very well. If you don't mind living down there I say go for it!

I have a friend who is graduating with a degree in psychology this year and after that she will do her ECE. Do you like children? Why not work with children? Everyone likes kids and you will get paid well for putting up with them.

Getting into Clinical Psychology is extremely hard. You need to have marks that would make S. Hawking green with envy, good recommendations, and a shit load of luck, and if you get in, you can look into having more school years than some M.Ds and having a lower pay than them. I've heard a lot of horror stories involved...

If we're talking about universities already can anyone tell me what is the difference between the Master of Science in Management and Master of Business Administration degrees in American system? (in reality. I already did my wikipedia search and it doesn't say much except that MBA is more practice-oriented)

In our system we also have an "engineer degree" which is slightly more than a bachelor and less than master's degree and only applies to technical studies (4 years). I will hopefully have engineer in management and engineer in IT degrees.
I already know that in the US they will mean only as much as Bachelor's degree.
However lately I've considered that in the distant future (after completing my studies here) I should fulfill my dream and study in the US doing master's degree.
I don't really know much about universities there but I know that they are expensive as hell, especially for international students.
I also know that Master of Science in management is way cheaper and requires no work experience in the US as opposed to MBA studies.
Courses on both seem also rather similar.
I don't want to be a CEO but I also don't want to work as a grocery store manager or something.
A friend of mine doing college in the US told me that cheaper universities are probably a waste of time. Is that true?
