I find this interesting.

The largest one I've seen is the phpbb.com forum. It has more than 185, 000 members. That's a lot. I thought I had seen the largest when I saw webhostingtalk.com that has more than 105, 000 members. PHPBB has 80, 000 more users!

TupacBoard/Street Hop has about 23, 000. Rapmusic.com has almost 100, 000 members (97, 000).

There was this one that i saw that had 200,000 members. I think it was called offtopic.com or something. It had sections for everything.

alot of those boards that are big, have non-active members. the admins just keep them there to make their board look big.

Gotta question though, how many of those members are "active."

also as i mentioned in another thread, those boards can fake the members count. i see this tutorial on how to do it.basically they create a list of usernames, then they follow a certain technqiue to get them all loaded into the database at the same time.

this board is cool the way it is, not too crowded, not too quiet and not in the middle...:)

You can say that about every messageboard, really. There are many inactive users on all messageboards.

I prefer larger forums because there are more people to communicate with. If you need help, there are more people to help you. Sometimes, it does get a little weird when you can't really say anything, but that comes with the benefits. Its like standing in a crowded room sometimes. Your post is ignored...lol
