ive played plenty of soccer and have a few professional players in my family, not every covers the whole field, dont deny that, but i did say, that in terms of cardiovascular and peak physical condition, soccer players are in better shape.

1) In soccer you have specified positions and rarely venture too far away (for instance excluding free kicks and corners how often do you see the centre back making a dart for goal)?

2) In basketball it's run run run for the entire quarter (excluding timeouts), in soccer you may be in action for only a brief period of time before the play swings away again. In soccer you have a far greater period of rest than you do in basketball.

3) I play both (soccer moreso) and have to say while after a game of soccer I'm usually okay (in the tired sense) after a full game of basketball I'm absolutely knackered everytime. Can you say honestly say opposite?

I'll use the UK as an example as im from the UK.

here football is the most popualr sport...to play and watch. Why aren't rugby, cricket etc more popular?

One of the main reasons is to play football u hardly require anything. A ball, and a few coats/rocks/trees as goalposts and there u go. u can play it in ur local park, street, garden where ever. This applies the world over...poor ass brazilian kids play it in their shanti towns, beaches, backstreets...and u see ow gud the brazilians are at football. u dont even need a ball, u can use a can or nethin

now with cricket rugby etc u need more than just a ball. u need more equpment..eg bats, wickets..a large enough area...or a rugby ball and actual rugby posts. these are a lot harder to come by.

so if ur 8 yrs old, ur bored...wot r u gonna do? u gonna go out and buy a load of equipment, find an appropriate amount of space, find enough players then play? or u gonna get a ball find whoever u can (u can play 1 on 1) mark out a goal (with nethin near by, no real posts needed) then play football? its easy and ne1 can play it.

thats why football is so popular...thats the beauty of it...its so easy to jus play. u can do it on ur own and practice ur skill. this would differ from other sports which are a lot harder to pick up and play. basketball isnt that harder to play but as well as a ball u need a hoop. unless ur parents have bought u one where the fuck is an 8 yr old gonna get a hoop from?

if football wasnt as easy to play as it is it probably wouldnt as be as popular as it is. If basketball was easier to pick up and play it would be more popular.
