What's the correct spelling?

Is it a Latin dictionary or English dictionary giving a definition of Tardy which indeed means somebody slow etc.? In Latin there is no word like Tard or Tardy.

Tard is just a root of word. You can't tell a definition of Tard because it's not a word. As I said Tardus is somebody slow if he's a male. Tardo means to be slow. You can't translate it straight into english as in english roots of words usually have their meanings. In Latin translating any root is just wrong.

The English language is made from Latin.

It's funny cus I was just lookin at that Verizon phone thread thingy and you spelt "fone" like a dumbass, then came and asked this question, I am giggling

yeah so we misunderstood each other. I was trying to proove that there is no latin word like "tard" - It was formed from "tardus" and "converted" into english in shorter form.

Can you speak Latin?

I have some weird wish to learn Latin although it's dead.

to help masta, what he means is using the word "tard" instead of a more complete version of the word is like saying "mean" when you mean to say "meaningful".
