DUKE: it is no 'hazy theory'....its a mathematically proven fact that there are more than 3 dimensions... the 4th of which is space/time however, you are correct in saying that there its soemwhat pointless trying to find refuge in religion

well its the same thing in terms of life in a 4th dimensional view...a persons death is just a moment in that persons time-line...the illusion from our 3rd dimensional perspective is that we cease to exist at our death....and thats becuase we see time in a straight line.

i think your right in saying that the point of life IS life...however, saying that there is no universal or general purpose is kind of contradictory to that...

my view on life is that if i wasn't here and living, if i never existed, or if you never existed, or anyone else that posted in this thread or on this board didnt exist.....then nothing would exist, EVERYTHING has an equal purpose in terms of the existense of our universe, right from the largest things right down to the most microscopic organisms.... i believe everything is born, lives and dies (not in necessarily in that order )so that everything else can be. (i.e the point of life is life)

But this timeline is the only timeline we know during our lives. We can speculate your ass off but it won't solve anything So for us, right now, death is no illusion but a reality.

yeah, its the time-line we know during our lives...but its no speculation that the 4th dimension in our universe is space/time...its a scientific, mathematically proven fact, so saying that death is the end of our existense has been proven to be incorrect, therefore its an illusion.

Just because there are more dimensions doesn't mean we continue to exist in those doesn't mean we actually will. Theoretically, maybe. Also depends on how one defines death. For me, death is when you cease to exist in this world. That is death. When I die, my spirit may linger in the 7th dimension playing chess with Saladin, but for my mates in this life, i'm still dead.

Hence, death is no illusion.

ok, let me put it to you this way man... we made posts in this thread yesterday, yes?....now those posts still exist? we can still view them, right? which means we both existed yesterday...there is proof we existed yesterday..

now if "today we both die".....dont we both still exist yesterday?...therefore we still exist; thats what it is to see in the 4th dimension....the other dimensions like the 7th for example are just other ways of looking at our universe, nothing outside of it......its not 'your spirit playing chess with saladin' hehe....

I refuse the accept the notion that we still exist after death even though we existed before said death. I am reasoning from here and now, not from some abstract perspective. When I die tomorrow, I cease to exist in this world, and even though I existed 20 years that was then and this is now.

You are free to view your time dimension as a giant bowl of soup which you can stir to dig up every moment and thus making your existence eternal. I don't.

your definetly on the right track...except for the concepts of 'beginning and ending' they are the illusions, not life itself....they rely on perspective (like i was trying to explain to duke)....its only because our brains see life in a straight line that we consider "the end of the movie" to be the "end"...its perspective....there is no beginning or end.
