I have several female friends who have been raped and know many more who have been through attempted rape. I believe that rapists should be punished without putting the victim on trial. I feel that if my daughter or wife was raped I would see to it that the rapist's penis was cut off and he was also raped.

What do you mean? The victim taking the stand? Sometimes its the only way to ensure conviction if the facts of the case are insufficient. What's worse - the pain of the trial or the pain of living with the knowledge that your rapist escaped penalty and is back in society?

First-time rapists should be sentenced to prison, be forced to complete anti-rape courses, and be evaluated by a psychologist in order to be released.

Sounds great in theory but the criminal justice system doesn't have the resources to conduct psycho-analysis on inmates..... this is why the rate of recidivism is as it is.

While some may feel that this is a comment of poor taste, I have to be honest. There is the chance that it could overwhelm & crumble the relationship - from her side, or yours.

Definately, something as traumatising as that is difficult for everyone to deal with, not just the victim. It would be very difficult to sustain a relationship.


As for all the macho bullshit going on here, if it was me, the last thing I would want is my father or boyfriend to make the situation worse by taking action themselves. Justice is for the police and the criminal justice system to serve. After being raped, you need love and support, not further pain and suffering when your dad or bf gets sentenced for murder or grievous bodily harm.

First off if you think that men cannot cry then I pity you, for the lack of mercy in your hearts. Nothing maho about not crying. Secondly if you don't accept help when you are offered then that is intellectual arrogacne and you are a fool for not realising that your knowledge cannot encompass everything. Even a doctor doesnt know everythig about his field. To narrow it down further I have talked to neurologists who say that we have spent a life time studying the kidney and we still don't know everything there is to know about it without reffering to books or taking knowledge of other people. YOu ask a cardiologist and he will tell you the same. Even specialists cannot know everything there is to know about their fields, so to think that you know everything about everything is arrogance and I laugh at your stupidity. Although MX I don't think you were being courteous and civil as you are making out now with CalcuoCuhicheo.

And the only person who pointed out the obvious in this thread is Amara. Some of you were hated on for joking yet you yourselves continue with your fantasising of what you wish you could do. You failed to see the irony.
I can only take from this that currently the laws governing the punishment or rather rehabilitation as 'her majesty' puts it are not sufficient enough to satisfy the people. And it is the peoples interest that justice is done against any offence.
I have never really been involved in an incident of rape in my personal life where I have been affected with someone being raped who is close to me. And the action I would take is debatable and I would think out fully what I would do. But one thing I do know, if I ever, come across any military soldier in the world who thinks that his dick is a weapon of war and not his gun. THEN, I would do everything in my power to make his life a living hell. Regardless of any kind of rationale or cohernet arguments for hanging, drawing and quatering him.

I totally agree with this.

I also think that the sentances for rape is no where near long enough! also a lot of rape cases don't even go to court due to women not reporting them as they get hell in the witness stand and are made to feel like they are not believed (i know this happens in the uk, not sure about anywhere else)

I agree with the sentancing part, but then again, i think that all rapists should be given the death sentance too!! If that happened to a female in my family- i know i would want to seek revenge, and yes, murdering the rapists would make you feel better- i.e. justice has been served! When u are raped- it changes u and you are scarred for life. If a rapist is put in jail for a cple of years, he can come out and do it again- what's the justice in that???

^^^ Yeah i totally agree, rapists are clever, they know if they use a weapon ie a knife they will get longer so they dont tend to use a weapon, then they only get about 5 years which on good behaviour they will be out in half that. i think they should get life no matter what. i think the death sentance would be good but then i would like him to suffer in prison

bascialy if that situation arose i would kidnap the guy and take him away, after a few days the state he would be in, like thinkin knowing he was goin to die would be torture. but i dont know til the situation acutaly went down, which i pray it never will.
