Mac is shit and utterly overrated. Being different doesn't make you better.

Mac users are even worse. They'll take any opportunity to push their product (as I'm assuming Eric will), and nothing they ever say impresses me.

whilst it is true that apple favor style and aesthetics over technology in many cases (in order to appeal to the mass-market average joes and janes who don't give a fuck about their device's non-core capabilities), for example the ipod and iphone (neither are the most advanced of their device), when it comes to multimedia and editing mac's are unrivalled.

most professional music studios and video editing suites use mac's and there is a reason why.

I'm suprise that you are not impressed with the fact the possibility of a Mac contracting a virus is pretty much 0%

It's pretty much 0% with PC's if you know what you are doing.

Unless you are involved with video or music then you getting a Mac is beyond stupid.

damn im using fire fox now and it shits on IE

damn right, make sure you go here and get yourself some add-ons. there's thousands of useful addons, so just find what suits you the best. This is the best feature of Firefox IMO because there are some really helpful ones.

Definately get "adblock plus", that's a must. (you can right click on any image and block it, useful for annoying banners etc).

I also use "Download Statusbar", "SaveAsImage" - that allows you to basically draw a box anywhere on your screen and it automatically saves it as an image.....which takes away the hassle of doing print screen and opening photoshop every time i want to make a screen grab.....i use "mouse gestures" which lets you click and draw lines on the screen which you can set to do different things like go back or forward, open a new tab, close a tab, etc etc etc....its fucking cool....

I'm not here to push the Apple product. I'm not the same as the other nerds that have Apple. What most people with Apple computers seem to forget is that it's all about preference. They aren't that much different in terms of how they run.

I do have a bad tendency to look down on people who can afford a Mac, but still run on a Windows platform, though. Error messages and viruses were something I did not want to deal with anymore. This is not the primary reason for my switch, but I'd think that's enough for an average person that can afford a Mac. Both of my Mac's run smoothly and I have never had an issue aside from an occasional freeze.

I'm not going to say Mac is better than Windows. Personally, it's my opinion that it is, but to each his own. But I have my reasons. I don't have to deal with viruses. Sure, you can keep a Windows clean, but it's a hassle. I prefer the user interface on OS X. It's cleaner, less cluttered. And, as the facebook usergroup states, anything your PC can do, my Mac can do better. Apple pretty much buys every good company to license their software on OS X only. It is ideal to work with Mac's on just about any project in media--music, movies, and even websites. The Google offices run Macs. Facebook offices run Macs. I only mention these sites because they are my favorites. ok im done.

yes.

Also, Salar, are you still djing? do you use a macbook? I've been noticing every dj around her has a macbook set up when they are doing their thing.

ya my cousin has a macbook with traktor and an indigo DJ card. he's been using that setup for his DJ sets and our live gigs for about 3 years now.

To be more specific, I meant MacBook Pro. I have a MacBook and was curious if it's powerful enough to do that (not that I have intentions to do so). But they all have MacBook Pros.

Yeah his is a pro. I don't know enough about the spec differences, but I wouldn't think you have a problem doing it with a regular macbook, either.

Yeah still djing
And i use a macbook pro
I generally take it to all my gigs.
Reason alot of dj's use their macbooks is ableton sets.. especially in dance music u can do some amazing shit with ableton and live djing!
Apart from ableton i also use my mac to find tracks.. all my music is keyed and categorised and there's like 3-4 songs on each cd. Each cd is numbered based on genre and key. So if i want to song, i type it in itunes, which finds it for me straight awy. I know what key it is and what cd its on so i don't have to bother searching through the cd wallets.
Also if i'm unsure about what song i want to play next, i just type in the key (Say if the song i'm playing right now is in A Minor then i need songs that are either in A Minor, A Major, E Minor or D Minor) and just see what i'm after.
