let me rephrase your words.
NEVER work out THE SAME BODYPART 2 days in a row. working out day after day is fine,just as long as you know what to do to recover properly.
make sure you get lots of sleep the day you work out. consume a high protein high carb meal after working out. you should also do this about an hour before working out. the carbs that you eat MUST NOT come from empty calories,get them from complexe carbs(veggies) instead of simple carbs(sugars).
If you wanna lift heavier,get this stuff called creatine. You'll gain like 20 pounds within days. BUT,its neither fat nor muscle. Creatine will fill your muscles up with water,resulting in bigger firmer muscles.When I started taking creatine I would up my bench 10 lbs a week at least. Creatine is a supplement,it has no side effects whatsoever, zero,but you have to make sure you take in lots and lots of water. Depending on the kind you get,it tastes good.It tastes exactly like a juice you would buy at the store.
Also,size doesnt necessarily mean strength. I've seen a 140lb guy bench over 300lbs while a 350lb individual bench max 120lbs.
If anyone is interested in gaining 1 pound of pure muscle(with zero fat) a week,naturally,without supplements or junk,let me know and i'll lead you in the right path.
here's a pic of a guy who gained around 30 pounds of muscle.look at the difference in the before and after.you can achieve this easily in 6 months without putting too much effort.
